Overview#

Wither's Wrath is a high-difficulty boss overhaul mod created by ImHer0. It transforms the standard Wither encounter into a multi-stage boss fight designed to challenge even endgame players. By default, the Wither's health is increased to 600 HP (300 hearts), matching the difficulty of the Bedrock Edition Wither, and it gains several new abilities including homing skulls, dash attacks, and minion summoning.

The mod is highly configurable, allowing players to toggle specific 'chaos' features or destructive behaviors to suit their server's needs. It also introduces unique rewards like the Rose Trophy for victors.

The Wither Boss#

The Wither in this mod is significantly more powerful than its vanilla counterpart. It possesses higher armor values and innate knockback resistance to prevent players from easily 'pinning' it during the fight.

Base Statistics

Statistic Value
Health 600 HP (300 Hearts)
Armor 4 Points
Knockback Resistance 100%
Default Behavior Aggressive / Destructive

Summoning

The summoning process remains identical to vanilla (4 Soul Sand/Soul Soil in a T-shape with 3 Wither Skeleton Skulls). However, the mod adds a custom 'Spawn Animation' where the Wither remains invulnerable while charging its initial explosion.

Wither Fight Phases#

The fight is divided into four distinct phases based on the boss's remaining health. Each phase introduces new threats and requires different strategies.

Phase 1: The Aerial Assault (100% - 50% HP)

In the initial phase, the Wither stays airborne, raining down standard and homing skulls. It moves faster than the vanilla Wither and actively attempts to maintain distance from the player.

Phase 2: Wither Shield & Minions (50% HP)

Upon reaching 300 HP, the Wither activates its Wither Armor, becoming immune to projectiles (arrows, tridents).

  • Summoning: It immediately summons 3-4 Wither Skeletons to defend it.
  • Reinforcements: Throughout this phase, it may occasionally spawn Blazes to provide fire support.

Phase 3: Berserk & Dash (Below 100 HP)

When the Wither is near death, it enters a 'Final Stand' mode.

  • Dash Attack: The Wither will periodically charge at the player with high velocity, dealing massive physical damage and knocking the player back.
  • Increased Fire Rate: The frequency of skull projectiles increases significantly.

Phase 4: Death Explosion (0 HP)

Unlike the vanilla Wither which simply disappears, the Wither's Wrath version triggers a violent, high-radius explosion upon death. Players must clear the area immediately after the final blow is dealt.

Mechanics & Special Attacks#

The mod introduces several unique projectile types and movement mechanics to keep the player on the move.

  • Homing Skulls: These skulls are slower and deal slightly less damage than standard skulls but will track the player's movement. They cannot be outrun easily; blocking with a shield is the recommended counter.
  • Blue Skulls: Ported from Bedrock Edition, these skulls have a higher blast resistance bypass, meaning they can destroy blocks that are normally blast-resistant.
  • Bedrock Dash: A horizontal charge attack that breaks blocks in its path and deals heavy contact damage.
  • Healing: The Wither heals a small amount of health whenever it successfully deals damage to a mob or player.

Items & Rewards#

Defeating the overhauled Wither provides the standard Nether Star, along with a unique commemorative item.

Drops

Item Quantity Description
Nether Star 1 Standard vanilla drop for crafting Beacons.
Rose Trophy 1 A unique decorative item/block that signifies the player's victory over the Wrathful Wither.

Note: The Rose Trophy is a special addition to this mod and serves as a permanent mark of achievement.

Configuration#

Players and server admins can customize the fight to balance difficulty and performance.

Configuration Command

To open the settings menu in-game, use: /function wither:config (or /function wither_wrath:config in some versions).

Toggleable Options

  • Bedrock Dash: Enable or disable the charging attack.
  • Bedrock Explosion: Toggle the massive explosion that occurs on spawn and death.
  • Destructive Features: If disabled, the Wither will not break blocks during the fight (useful for protecting bases).
  • Minion Spawning: Toggle whether the Wither can summon Wither Skeletons and Blazes.
  • Homing Skulls: Enable or disable the tracking logic for projectiles.

Troubleshooting#

If the Wither fight behaves unexpectedly or the boss becomes 'stuck,' the mod provides built-in recovery tools.

  • Wither Fix: If the Wither's AI breaks or it stops attacking, run the command: /function wither:wither/fix.
  • Performance Issues: The high number of explosions and block updates can cause lag on lower-end systems. It is recommended to disable 'Destructive Features' in the config if frame rates drop significantly.
  • Compatibility: This mod is designed for vanilla-plus environments. It may conflict with other mods that completely overhaul the Wither entity (ID: minecraft:wither).
