Overview#

Ender IO is a comprehensive technology mod that focuses on compact automation and high-tier resource processing. Its defining feature is the conduit system, which allows multiple types of cables (power, items, fluids, and redstone) to occupy the same block space. The mod introduces a progression system based on custom alloys, soul-based mechanics, and modular machinery that can be upgraded using capacitors.

In version 1.20.1, the mod has been rebuilt to integrate seamlessly with modern Minecraft mechanics while retaining its core identity of efficiency and space-saving design.

Conduit Systems#

Conduits are the backbone of Ender IO. Unlike standard cables from other mods, Ender IO conduits can be bundled together within a single block, allowing for incredibly dense and complex automation setups.

Conduit Types

Type Function Capacity/Notes
Energy Conduit Transfers Forge Energy (FE) Available in multiple tiers (Basic, Enhanced, Ender).
Item Conduit Transfers items between inventories Supports advanced filtering and priority settings.
Fluid Conduit Transfers liquids Higher tiers support pressurized flow and gravity-defying movement.
Redstone Conduit Transfers redstone signals Supports 16 different color-coded channels.

Conduit Tools

  • Yeta Wrench: The primary tool for configuring conduits. Right-clicking a conduit connection toggles its state (In, Out, In/Out, or Disabled). Shift-scrolling changes the 'view mode' to highlight specific conduit types.
  • Conduit Binder: A composite material used to craft the conduit housings. It is made by smelting a mixture of gravel, clay, and sand.

Machines and Processing#

Ender IO machines are modular and require Forge Energy (FE) to operate. Their efficiency, speed, and energy storage can be significantly increased by inserting Capacitors.

Core Machinery

Alloy Smelter

The Alloy Smelter is used to create the mod's custom metals. It has three modes: All Smelting, Alloy Only, and Furnace Only.

Input 1 Input 2 Input 3 Result
Iron Ingot Coal Powder - Steel Ingot
Iron Ingot Ender Pearl Obsidian Dark Steel
Gold Ingot Redstone Glowstone Energetic Alloy
Energetic Alloy Ender Pearl - Vibrant Alloy
Copper Ingot Redstone - Conductive Alloy

SAG Mill

A grinding machine that processes ores and items into dusts. It has a chance to produce secondary outputs and can be enhanced using different grinding balls (Flint, Dark Steel, etc.) to increase yield.

Input Primary Output Secondary Output
Iron Ore 2x Iron Dust Cobblestone (low chance)
Coal 1x Coal Powder -
Lapis Lazuli 9x Lapis Dust -

Fluid Tank

Used for storing and cooling liquids. It can also act as a basic bucket filler or emptier. The reinforced version can store significantly more fluid and is blast-resistant.

Powered Spawner

By combining a Broken Spawner (found in dungeons) with a Soul Vial in a Soul Binder, players can create a Powered Spawner. This machine uses energy to spawn specific mobs even if the player is not nearby.

Materials and Alloys#

Progression in Ender IO is gated by the creation of specialized alloys and the harvesting of 'Grains of Infinity'.

Grains of Infinity

This is a foundational resource. It is obtained by lighting Bedrock on fire. When the fire goes out (or is extinguished), there is a chance for Grains of Infinity to appear on the bedrock surface.

Key Alloys

  • Electrical Steel: Used for basic machine chassis and mid-tier conduits.
  • Energetic Alloy: A high-conductivity metal used for advanced power storage.
  • Vibrant Alloy: Used for teleportation-related items and top-tier conduits.
  • Dark Steel: An extremely durable alloy used for high-end tools and armor. It can be upgraded with various modules.
  • End Steel: An end-game alloy used for the most powerful machines and equipment.

Dark Steel Equipment#

Dark Steel tools and armor are modular. By default, they are slightly better than Diamond, but they can be upgraded at a Dark Steel Upgrade Station using XP and specific items.

Common Upgrades

  • Empowered: Allows the item to use energy (FE) to absorb damage instead of losing durability.
  • Spoon: Allows the Dark Steel Pickaxe to function as a shovel.
  • Travel: Allows the tool to perform a 'Blink' teleportation (short distance).
  • The One Probe: Integrates HUD information directly into the Dark Steel Helmet.
  • Flippers: Increases swimming speed when applied to Dark Steel Boots.

Ender IO Zoo (Mobs)#

The mod adds several unique hostile entities that provide specific drops required for high-tier crafting.

Mob Statistics

Mob Health Behavior Notable Drops
Enderminie 20 Small, neutral until attacked. Teleports frequently. Ender Pearls, Ender Fragment
Concussion Creeper 20 Explodes into a non-lethal teleportation blast. Gunpowder, Confusing Powder
Fallen Knight 20 Spawns with swords or bows, often mounted on horses. Iron/Gold gear, Rotten Flesh
Dire Wolf 16 Aggressive pack hunters that spawn in snowy biomes. Dire Wolf Pelt
Wither Witch 30 Throws potions and can summon Wither Cats. Potions, Wither Powder

Soul Mechanics

  • Soul Vial: Used to capture mobs by right-clicking them. This is essential for moving mobs or using them in the Soul Binder.
  • Soul Binder: Consumes XP and a filled Soul Vial to transfer a mob's 'soul' into a machine or item (e.g., creating a Powered Spawner or a Sentient Armor Plate).

Power Generation#

Ender IO provides several ways to generate Forge Energy (FE).

  1. Stirling Generator: A basic generator that burns solid fuels (Coal, Wood). Its efficiency is determined by the installed Capacitor.
  2. Combustion Generator: Burns liquid fuels (Rocket Fuel, Fire Water, Hooch) and requires water as a coolant. It is highly efficient but requires a steady supply of refined fluids.
  3. Photovoltaic Cells: Solar panels that generate power during the day. They can be placed on top of conduits to feed directly into a power grid.
  4. Capacitor Banks: Modular blocks used to store massive amounts of energy. They can be placed together to form a single large multiblock storage unit with a unified GUI.

Mechanics and Utilities#

The Enchanter

Allows players to create Enchanted Books using specific items and XP. For example, combining a Book and Quill with a certain amount of Emeralds can produce a Silk Touch book. This removes the randomness of the standard Enchanting Table.

Painting Machine

Allows players to 'paint' certain blocks (like Conduit Facades or Travel Anchors) with the texture of any other block. This is used for hiding conduits inside walls or creating decorative machinery.

Travel Anchors

Blocks that allow for short-range teleportation. If a player stands on one Travel Anchor, they can look at another and press Jump to teleport to it. This also works with the Staff of Traveling.
