Overview#
The Diamethysts Mod introduces a new tier of material that bridges the gap between Diamond and Netherite while adding unique mystical properties. Unlike standard material mods, Diamethysts focuses on a "richer crafting experience," moving away from simple recipes in favor of a modular system involving hilts, sections, and specialized components. The mod features a wide array of equipment, including medieval weaponry, specialized tools, and armor sets that provide powerful status effects when worn as a complete set.
Materials & Resources#
The core of the mod revolves around the Diamethyst, a hybrid crystalline material. These resources are found through exploration, mining, and combat.
Primary Materials
| Item | Description | Acquisition |
|---|---|---|
| Diamethyst Shard | The basic unit of the material. | Dropped by Pillagers, Vindicators, and Evokers; found in Geodes or loot chests. |
| Diamethyst Crystal | A refined form of the material used in high-tier crafting. | Crafted from shards or harvested from Budding Diamethyst clusters. |
| Leather Bound Stick | A reinforced handle used for all tool and weapon hilts. | Crafted using Leather and Sticks. |
| Metal Hilts | Specialized handles (Iron, Gold, Copper, etc.) required for weapons. | Crafted using a Leather Bound Stick, a Diamethyst Crystal, and the respective metal. |
Equipment: Tools & Weapons#
Diamethysts replaces the standard "ingot-on-a-stick" crafting with a more realistic assembly process. All tools and weapons boast higher durability and efficiency than their vanilla counterparts.
Standard Tools
- Pickaxes, Axes, Shovels, and Hoes: These follow the modular crafting system, requiring specific hilts. They feature significantly higher durability and mining speeds.
- Fishing Rods: Enhanced rods that cast further and have built-in Luck of the Sea and Lure properties.
Specialized Weaponry
- Scimitar: A fast-swinging blade with 2.1 attack speed, making it more agile than a standard sword.
- Sickle: An extremely fast weapon (4.0 attack speed) that can also be used to harvest crops efficiently.
- Battle Axe: A heavy, slow weapon that deals massive burst damage and can disable shields.
- Bows & Crossbows: These weapons deal increased damage the longer they are drawn back. They require "Upper" and "Lower" sections to craft.
Medieval Add-on Weapons
- Glaive: Features a built-in Sweeping Edge I effect for long-range crowd control.
- Halberd: Comes with a Sharpness I effect, ideal for high-damage piercing attacks.
- Lochaber Axe: Specifically designed to disable enemy shields.
- Ranseur: Has a 50% chance to dismount attackers from horses or other mounts.
Armor & Horse Armor#
Diamethyst armor provides superior protection and unique set bonuses. Armor is often crafted as "Mesh" or "Plates" before being assembled into full pieces.
Armor Set Bonuses
When a full set of a specific tier is equipped, the player receives permanent status buffs:
| Armor Tier | Set Bonuses |
|---|---|
| Netherite-Diamethyst | Fire Resistance, Regeneration, Resistance, Night Vision |
| Golden Diamethyst | Regeneration, Fire Resistance |
| Iron Diamethyst | Slow Falling |
| Copper Diamethyst | Strength, Jump Boost |
Horse Armor
Diamethyst Horse Armor protects equine companions and provides them with speed and health buffs while being ridden by the player.
Blocks & World Generation#
The mod adds several new blocks to the world, primarily focused on the growth and processing of crystals.
- Diamethyst Ore: Found deep underground in the Overworld, often near Amethyst Geodes. It drops shards when mined.
- Budding Diamethyst: A rare block found in specialized geodes that slowly grows Diamethyst Clusters. Unlike vanilla budding amethyst, these can be used to farm Diamethyst Shards over time.
- Diamethyst Block: A decorative storage block crafted from nine crystals.
- Diamethyst Glass: A reinforced, translucent block created by smelting a Diamethyst Crystal in a Blast Furnace. It is much more blast-resistant than standard glass.
Mobs: The Diamethyst Golem#
In later versions (1.19.4+), the mod introduces the Diamethyst Golem.
- Behavior: A neutral-to-friendly construct that protects the player or villages. It is significantly tougher than an Iron Golem.
- Stats: High health pool and resistance to knockback.
- Drops: Upon death, it may drop Diamethyst Shards and Iron Ingots.
- Summoning: Created by placing a carved pumpkin atop a T-shape of Diamethyst Blocks (similar to an Iron Golem).
Artifacts & Potions#
Mystical items known as "Lost Artifacts" can be found in rare structures or traded by high-level Cleric villagers.
- Crystalline Heart: A rare artifact that, when held or kept in the inventory, increases the player's maximum health.
- Amethyst Eye: Allows the player to see the outlines of nearby ores through walls for a short duration.
- Potions: The mod introduces a "Base Potion" system. By using Diamethyst Shards in a brewing stand, players can create powerful versions of vanilla potions with extended durations or increased potency (Level III effects).
Crafting Mechanics#
The mod utilizes a multi-stage crafting system to ensure balanced progression.
- Component Creation: Craft Leather Bound Sticks and Metal Hilts.
- Sectioning: For ranged weapons, craft the Upper and Lower sections using crystals and sticks.
- Assembly: Combine the hilt/sections with Diamethyst Crystals in a crafting table to form the final tool or weapon.
- Upgrading: Diamethyst gear can be further upgraded at a Smithing Table using Netherite Ingots to create the ultimate "Netherite-Diamethyst" tier.
Example Recipe: Diamethyst Sword
- Step 1: 1x Leather Bound Stick + 1x Diamethyst Crystal + 1x Iron Ingot = Iron Hilt.
- Step 2: 1x Iron Hilt + 2x Diamethyst Crystals (placed diagonally) = Diamethyst Sword.
