Overview#
EvilCraft is a comprehensive mod for Minecraft that explores the darker side of magic. It introduces a unique resource system based on Blood, which is used to power various machines, craft powerful artifacts, and even transform the player. The mod features a progression system involving ancient structures, modular flight, and the containment of vengeful spirits.
Key Features
- Blood-Based Machinery: Use blood to infuse items, repair tools, and automate resource collection.
- Vengeance System: Every mob killed leaves behind a spirit that can be captured or utilized.
- Modular Brooms: Craft and upgrade custom flying brooms with various modifiers.
- Werewolfism: Encounter werewolves in villages and harness their power through their remains.
- Environmental Control: Manipulate weather and biomes using ancient technology found in Dark Temples.
Getting Started#
To begin your journey into EvilCraft, you must first obtain the Chronicle of Evil (also known as The Origins of Darkness), which serves as the in-game guide.
Obtaining the Chronicle of Evil
- Mine Dark Ore: Found deep underground (Y: 6 to -6), Dark Ore drops Dark Gems. You need at least an Iron Pickaxe.
- Craft a Darkened Apple: Combine a regular Apple with a Dark Gem.
- The Sacrifice: Find a passive animal (like a pig or cow) and feed it the Darkened Apple. The animal will begin to die and create a dark anomaly.
- The Ritual: Quickly throw a regular Book into the anomaly. It will transform into the Origins of Darkness.
Core Resources
| Resource | Description | Acquisition |
|---|---|---|
| Blood | The primary fluid resource. | Collected from Blood Stains or using a Blood Extractor. |
| Dark Gem | Essential crafting component. | Mined from Dark Ore. |
| Crushed Dark Gem | Used for brooms and fuel. | Obtained by crushing Dark Gems or as a rare drop from Dark Ore. |
| Hardened Blood | A solid block form of blood. | Created when blood pools solidify or by infusing stone with blood. |
Mobs#
EvilCraft adds several unique entities to the world, ranging from annoying insects to powerful lycanthropes.
Werewolf
Werewolves are unique mobs that appear as normal, slightly strange-looking villagers during the day. At night, especially during a full moon, they transform into large, aggressive beasts.
- Health: 40 (Wolf form) / 20 (Human form)
- Behavior: Passive during the day; highly aggressive and fast at night.
- Drops: Werewolf Bone, Werewolf Flesh, Werewolf Fur.
Poisonous Libelle
Small, dragonfly-like creatures found in swamp and river biomes. They fly in erratic patterns and are difficult to hit.
- Health: 2
- Behavior: Aggressive; inflicts Poison II on contact.
- Drops: Poison Sac.
Vengeance Spirit
When a mob dies, it leaves behind an invisible Vengeance Spirit. These spirits are only visible if the player holds a Vengeance Ring or wears Spectral Glasses.
- Health: Low (Varies by mob type)
- Behavior: Usually passive but will attack if the player has a Vengeance Curse. They can be captured in a Box of Eternal Closure.
- Drops: Vengeance Essence (when killed with a Vengeance Focus).
Machines & Blocks#
Machines in EvilCraft typically require Blood to function. Most can be upgraded using Promises of Tenacity.
Blood Infuser
The central machine of the mod. It uses blood to transform items into more powerful versions.
- Capacity: 10,000 mB (Base)
- Upgrades: Promises of Tenacity (Tier I, II, III) increase capacity and unlock advanced recipes.
- Common Recipes:
- Dark Gem + Blood → Dark Power Gem
- Dead Bush + Blood → Undead Sapling
Environmental Accumulator
Found naturally in Dark Temples. It is used to manipulate the world's state.
- Weather Control: Throw an empty Weather Container into the beam during specific weather to bottle it.
- Biome Control: Use a Biome Extract to capture the current biome and transplant it elsewhere.
- Note: Overusing this machine will turn the surrounding area into Degraded Lands.
Spirit Furnace
A specialized furnace that "cooks" captured Vengeance Spirits using blood to produce the drops of the mob the spirit originated from.
Purifier
Uses blood to remove enchantments from items, clear curses, or repair damaged tools. It can also be used to collect potion effects into bottles.
Tools & Equipment#
Blood Extractor
The primary tool for gathering blood. When held in the inventory, it automatically collects blood from Blood Stains (created when mobs take damage or die). It can also be used to manually extract blood from tanks.
Modular Brooms
Brooms provide a unique flight mechanic. They consist of three parts: a Rod, a Brush, and a Cap.
- Modifiers: Brooms can be upgraded in a crafting grid with items like Glowstone (Speed), Feathers (Levitation), or Quartz (Maneuverability).
- Fuel: Brooms consume blood from the player's inventory or internal storage while flying.
Vengeance Ring
An essential accessory for interacting with the spirit world.
- Deactivated: Allows the player to see Vengeance Spirits.
- Activated: Grants Speed, Jump Boost, and Invisibility, but periodically summons aggressive spirits and drains the player's health/hunger.
Mace of Destruction
A powerful weapon that creates explosions upon impact. It consumes blood to fuel its destructive power.
Mechanics#
Blood Collection
Blood is generated whenever a mob is damaged. It appears as red particles on the ground called Blood Stains. These can be right-clicked with a Blood Extractor to collect the fluid. For automation, use the Sanguinary Pedestal.
Werewolfism
Players can gain werewolf-like abilities by consuming Werewolf Flesh.
- Nighttime: Eating flesh grants Night Vision, Strength, and Speed.
- Daytime: Eating flesh is toxic, inflicting heavy Poison and Hunger effects.
Farting
A humorous but functional mechanic.
- Enable: Press
Shift + Pto toggle farting. - Trigger: Press
Shiftwhile enabled to release a fart. - Effect: Provides a small vertical boost and emits smoke particles. It can be used for minor parkour or as a joke.
World Generation#
Dark Ore
Generates in small veins between Y levels 6 and -6. It is the primary source of Dark Gems.
Dark Temple
A rare structure that spawns in various biomes. It is easily identified by a tall, glowing green beam of light emitting from its center. Inside, you will find a pre-placed Environmental Accumulator.
Degraded Lands
Not a naturally spawning biome, but a result of environmental abuse. If an Environmental Accumulator is used too frequently in one spot, the grass and leaves will turn dark and withered, and the area will become a "Degraded Biome."
Configuration & Commands#
EvilCraft is highly configurable via the evilcraft.cfg file. Key options include:
- Mob Spawning: Toggle the spawning of Werewolves and Poisonous Libelles.
- Blood Stains: Blacklist specific blocks from being stained by blood.
- Degradation: Adjust how quickly the Environmental Accumulator degrades the biome.
