Overview#
Dimensional Dungeons is designed to provide an infinite supply of challenging, pre-built dungeon rooms that are randomly connected to form unique layouts. These dungeons exist in a separate dimension (dimdungeons:dungeon_dimension) to prevent overworld clutter and allow for specific gameplay rules.
Key features include:
- Adventure Mode Mechanics: Block breaking and placing are restricted within the dungeon dimension to preserve the integrity of puzzles and combat encounters.
- Procedural Generation: Dungeons are built from a pool of hand-crafted rooms, including combat arenas, parkour challenges, and logic puzzles.
- Moddability: Server admins and modpack creators can add custom rooms via NBT files and override loot tables to include items from other mods.
- Renewable Content: Portals can be reset with new keys, providing endless exploration without the need for infinite world travel.
Getting Started: Portal Construction#
To access the dungeon dimension, you must construct a specific multiblock portal structure in the Overworld. Unlike Nether portals, this structure requires specific blocks and auxiliary "spires."
The Main Frame
Build a vertical frame of Stone Bricks that is 3 blocks wide and 4 blocks tall (outer dimensions). The center 1x2 area should be empty. Replace the top-center block of the frame with a Portal Keystone.
The Spires
Place two spires exactly one block away from the sides of the main frame. Each spire must be 3 blocks tall:
- Bottom two blocks: Stone Bricks.
- Top block: Gilded Portal Block.
Activation
Once the structure is complete, you must insert an Activated Portal Key into the Portal Keystone by right-clicking it. The portal will then fill with a swirling texture, allowing you to step through.
