Overview#
Interactic is a client-side quality-of-life mod that reworks the way you interact with items in the world. Instead of simply walking over dropped items, you get a set of tools for picking them up on your own terms, filtering what you collect, throwing items through the air, and seeing item drops rendered more clearly on the ground.
Everything Interactic adds is controlled from a single in-game configuration screen, so you can turn each feature on or off to match how you like to play. The main features are direct item pickup, an Item Filter for automatic collection, item throwing that turns items into projectiles, and improved rendering and tooltips for dropped items.
Picking Up Items#
Interactic changes how items leave the ground and enter your inventory.
- Right Click Pickup lets you pick up a dropped item stack by aiming at it and right-clicking, so you can collect exactly the stack you want instead of running through a pile.
- Auto Pickup collects nearby dropped items automatically as you move, so you never leave drops behind.
- A dedicated Pick up Item keybind (shown in the controls list as "[Interactic] Pick up Item") lets you grab items without changing what you are holding.
You can use these together or separately: leave Auto Pickup off and rely on Right Click Pickup for precise control, or turn Auto Pickup on for hands-free collecting.
The Item Filter#
The Item Filter is a special item added by Interactic that decides which items your automatic pickup is allowed to collect.
- Open its configuration screen to choose the items it should accept.
- With the filter active, automatic pickup only grabs the items on the list and ignores everything else, keeping your inventory free of junk drops.
- This is useful at mob farms, while mining, or anywhere lots of items drop at once and you only want to keep certain ones.
The filter remembers the items you set, so once it is configured it keeps working the way you left it.
Throwing Items#
Interactic lets you throw items straight out of your hand.
- With Item Throwing enabled, you can toss the item you are holding and it flies forward instead of just dropping at your feet.
- With Items act as projectiles enabled, thrown items travel through the air as real projectiles and can hit and damage mobs and other players.
- Defeating something with a thrown tool produces its own kill-feed message - for example a thrown sword "executes", a thrown axe lands a "trickshot", a pickaxe "pierces", a shovel "whacks", and a hoe "reaps" the target.
- An optional Swing arm on drop setting plays a throwing animation so the action looks natural.
Throwing is a fun way to deal damage at range, drop items to teammates, or clear your hotbar quickly.
Item Rendering and Tooltips#
Interactic also improves how dropped items look and how much information you get about them.
- Fancy Item Rendering displays dropped items with a nicer, clearer look on the ground.
- Blocks lay flat makes dropped block items rest flat on the floor instead of standing upright, so item piles look tidier.
- Render Item Tooltips shows an item's name when you look at it on the ground, and Full Tooltips expands that to the item's complete tooltip, so you can identify drops before picking them up.
These options are purely visual and can be toggled independently of the pickup and throwing features.
Configuration Options#
All of Interactic's behavior is set from its Interactic Configuration screen, which is split into global and client-only options:
- Client Only Mode - run the mod's features locally.
- Right Click Pickup - pick up item stacks by right-clicking them.
- Auto Pickup - collect nearby drops automatically.
- Item Filter - enable the Item Filter item for selective auto pickup.
- Fancy Item Rendering - improved rendering of dropped items.
- Render Item Tooltips / Full Tooltips - show ground-item names or full tooltips.
- Item Throwing - throw the held item.
- Items act as projectiles - thrown items fly and can deal damage.
- Swing arm on drop - play a throwing animation.
- Blocks lay flat - dropped blocks rest flat on the ground.
Turn on only the features you want and leave the rest off for a lighter experience.
Tips#
- Set up the Item Filter for farms. At mob or item farms, configure the Item Filter so auto pickup only keeps the drops you actually want.
- Combine throwing with projectiles. Enable both Item Throwing and "Items act as projectiles" if you want thrown tools to deal damage rather than simply landing on the ground.
- Use Right Click Pickup for precision. Leave Auto Pickup off and grab single stacks by hand when you are sorting loot.
- Turn on tooltips when exploring. Full Tooltips let you read exactly what a drop is before you decide to collect it.
- Keep the libraries installed. Interactic relies on its required libraries to run, so make sure they are present in your mods list.
FAQ and Troubleshooting#
How do I pick up items? Aim at a dropped stack and right-click it with Right Click Pickup enabled, walk near drops with Auto Pickup on, or use the "[Interactic] Pick up Item" keybind.
What does the Item Filter do? It limits automatic pickup to a chosen list of items, so you only collect what you want and skip the rest.
How do I throw an item? Enable Item Throwing in the config, then toss the held item; enable "Items act as projectiles" if you also want it to fly and deal damage.
Why did I get an odd death message? Thrown items have their own kill-feed messages for each tool type, so being defeated by a thrown sword, axe, pickaxe, shovel, or hoe shows a special line.
Can I turn features off? Yes. Every feature has its own toggle in the Interactic Configuration screen, so you can enable only the parts you want.
Why won't the mod load? Interactic needs its required libraries installed alongside it. If any are missing, the mod will not load - check your mods list to confirm they are all present.
