Inmis Addon Wiki

What the addon changes about how a worn backpack looks, which tiers get their own texture, and what it does not touch.

Overview#

Inmis lets you wear a backpack in the chest slot, but it draws the pack on your back using the item icon — the same flat sprite you see in the inventory, stood on its edge. It reads as a picture of a backpack rather than a piece of gear.

This addon swaps that for a real three-dimensional model: a shaped body with a rolled top flap, straps down the sides and a carry handle. The model is anchored to the torso, so it leans when you lean, turns when you turn and drops with you when you sneak.

It is purely cosmetic. Nothing about capacity, crafting, tiers or how the backpack works changes — only what it looks like on your back.

One texture per tier#

Every backpack tier gets its own texture on the shared model, so you can tell at a glance which pack someone is carrying:

Tier Look
Baby Small tan leather pack — and a narrower model, not just a different texture
Frayed Worn grey canvas with a red top flap
Leather Plain brown leather
Plated Iron banding over the body
Gilded Gold trim
Bejeweled Diamond-blue with set stones
Blazing Dark body with hot orange seams
Withered Blackened, wither-themed
Endless Pale chorus colours

The first tier is the only one with a different shape; the rest share the full-size model and differ by texture.

Other touches#

  • Enchanted packs keep their glint. An enchantment shimmer is drawn over the model the same way it is over armour.
  • The backpack key closes the screen too. Normally the key only opens the backpack; with the addon installed, pressing it again while the screen is open closes it, so one key toggles it.
  • Dyed packs are tinted. If a pack carries a dye colour, the model is tinted to match instead of showing its plain texture.
  • First-person body mods are handled. While you are swimming in first person with such a mod installed, the pack is skipped for that frame, because it would otherwise clip through the body drawn in front of the camera.

What it does not do#

  • It adds no items, blocks, recipes, commands or config screens.
  • It stores nothing in the world, so it can be added to and removed from an existing save freely.
  • It does not change backpack capacity, crafting, upgrade paths or any other behaviour — remove it and every backpack still works exactly the same, it just goes back to being drawn flat.
  • It changes nothing about any other mod's items or armour.

Installing#

The addon does nothing on its own: it draws Inmis' backpacks, so Inmis must be installed alongside it, plus the API listed with the download.

Everything the addon does happens while your own game draws the world, so it is client-side. A server needs nothing, and other players see whatever their own setup draws — someone without the addon still sees the flat pack on your back.

Because it only replaces a render, it is safe to add or remove mid-save at any time.

Tips#

  • Look at yourself in third person (the perspective key) to see the model properly — in first person you cannot see your own back.
  • Wearing an actual chestplate is not possible at the same time as a backpack, since both use the chest slot; the pack is what you will see.
  • If you see the flat icon instead of the model, the addon is not loading — check that Inmis and the required API are both present and that the game reported no mod errors on startup.
  • The model is deliberately close to what a backpack should look like at Minecraft's block scale, so it stays small enough not to hide your player skin.
