The Cuttable Wood data pack (also known as the Sawmill or Woodcutter pack) is a comprehensive quality-of-life utility created by Daenvil as part of the Recyclecraft and Vegancraft collections. It expands the functionality of the Stonecutter block to include all wood-based materials, effectively turning it into a woodworking station.

This data pack is designed to make wooden item crafting more intuitive, less wasteful, and faster. It supports all vanilla wood types, including specialized woods like Bamboo, Cherry, and Pale Oak. By using the Stonecutter, players can bypass complex crafting table steps, such as crafting sticks before fences, and can even recycle larger wooden items back into smaller components.

The data pack is offered in two distinct versions to cater to different gameplay styles. Both versions support the same wood types but differ significantly in their resource costs and recipe availability.

OP Version

This version is designed for maximum convenience and resource efficiency. It allows players to craft complex items (like chests and doors) directly from single planks. It is ideal for players who find vanilla wood crafting tedious or overly expensive.

Vanilla-Balanced Version

This version adheres strictly to vanilla Minecraft's conversion rates. Larger items like doors, chests, and fences typically require a log or wood block as the input rather than a single plank. This ensures the data pack remains a utility for convenience without breaking the game's intended resource economy.

The data pack introduces several unique mechanics to the Stonecutter interface:

• Direct Log Processing: Craft fences, signs, and gates directly from logs, skipping the intermediate stick-crafting phase.
• Item Repurposing: Cut larger items into smaller ones. For example, a Door can be cut into a Trapdoor, or a Stair can be cut into a Slab.
• Mass Stripping: Place logs or wood blocks into the Stonecutter to receive the stripped variant instantly, allowing for much faster processing than using an axe manually.
• Fence Conversion: Seamlessly switch between Fences and Fence Gates of the same wood type.
• Fuel Efficiency: While the pack is balanced to prevent item duplication exploits, it does allow for more efficient fuel creation (e.g., cutting logs into slabs provides more total fuel units than the raw log).

In the OP version, a single Plank can be converted into almost any sub-product.

The Balanced version requires more substantial inputs for complex items to maintain vanilla parity.

Boats and Rafts

Cutting a Boat or Chest Boat yields a high volume of sub-products, representing the wood used to build them.

• Boat/Raft: Can be cut into 2 Doors, 2 Trapdoors, 5 Signs, 2 Fences, or 10 Sticks.
• Chest Boat/Raft: Yields the same as a standard boat plus additional items representing the chest (e.g., 12 Bowls or 12 Sticks).

Hanging Signs and Shelves

• Hanging Signs: Can be cut back into standard Signs, Pressure Plates, Bowls, or Sticks.
• Shelves (v3.4+): Shelves can be cut into Doors, Trapdoors, Slabs, or various smaller items like Buttons and Ladders.

Cuttable Wood is designed to work seamlessly with other data packs in the Recyclecraft and Vegancraft ecosystem:

• Back to Blocks: Highly recommended for use alongside Cuttable Wood to allow for full circular recycling (converting sub-products back into full blocks).
