Detail Armor Bar Wiki

A guide to Detail Armor Bar: how it upgrades the vanilla armor HUD to show material, durability, enchantments and protection at a glance.

Overview#

Detail Armor Bar is a lightweight client-side mod that replaces the plain vanilla armor bar with a much more informative one. The vanilla bar only tells you how many armor points you have; Detail Armor Bar also shows what your armor is made of, how worn it is, and which protections are active - all without opening your inventory.

What the Bar Shows#

  • Material colors: each armor point is drawn in the color and shape of the piece protecting you, so leather, chainmail, iron, gold, diamond, netherite and turtle shell are all instantly recognizable.
  • Low durability warning: armor that is close to breaking flashes a warning color so you are never caught off guard mid-fight.
  • Enchantment glint: enchanted armor shows a subtle shimmer on the bar.
  • Protection auras: Protection, Projectile Protection, Blast Protection and Fire Protection each add an animated colored effect.
  • Thorns & Mending: both are highlighted on the bar so you can see them at a glance.

Configuration#

Every feature can be toggled from the mod options screen (accessible through Mod Menu). You can turn individual indicators on or off - enchantments, thorns, durability, mending, armor material types, the item bar, the empty bar and more - and change the animation speed and protection effect style (aura or outline). This makes it easy to keep only the information you care about.

Tips#

  • Watch for the low-durability color while fighting so you can swap or repair a piece before it breaks.
  • The material colors make it easy to spot a downgraded piece (for example a single leather slot among diamond) at a glance.
  • Because it is client-side only, you can use it on any server without the server needing the mod.
