Overview#

The DwarvenCraft Mod aims to provide a more immersive dwarven experience within Minecraft. It fundamentally alters early-game progression by introducing new stone and metal resources that can be used to craft essential items, tools, and blocks, effectively reducing or eliminating the reliance on wood. The mod introduces a variety of new materials, tools, and creatures, encouraging players to delve into the earth and master the craft of the dwarves.

Blocks#

DwarvenCraft introduces a range of new blocks, primarily focusing on stone and compressed materials:

  • New Stone Types: The mod adds eight distinct new stone types, each with its own cobblestone variant. These stones are fundamental to the mod's progression, as they can be used to craft tools, workbenches, and other items, removing the necessity for wood.
  • Stone Chest: A unique storage block that functions similarly to a regular chest but can be placed directly adjacent to other chests, allowing for more compact storage solutions.
  • Obsidian Blocks: Includes standard obsidian blocks, as well as a Super Compressed Obsidian Block, which is a highly dense form of obsidian.
  • Coal Blocks: The mod features standard Coal Blocks, along with Compressed Coal Blocks and Super Compressed Coal Blocks, offering more compact storage for coal.
  • Dwarven Utility Blocks: Stone variants of common utility blocks are available, such as Stone Doors, Stone Ladders, and Stone Workbenches, which are textured appropriately for the stone type used in their creation.

Items and Tools#

The mod introduces a comprehensive set of tools and items crafted from its new materials:

  • Rods: Stone and metal rods are introduced as crafting components, replacing wooden sticks in many recipes.
  • Generic Stone Tools: All eight new stone types can be used to craft a full set of generic tools, providing early-game alternatives to wooden tools.
  • Reinforced Tools: These tools are an upgraded version of standard tools, offering increased speed and durability compared to their regular counterparts.
  • Obsidian Tools: A powerful tier of tools, including the Obsidian Glowing Hammer, Obsidian Shovel, Obsidian Sword, and Obsidian Pickaxe. The Obsidian Glowing Hammer is particularly notable as it combines the functions of both a pickaxe and a sword, capable of one-hit breaking many blocks and instantly defeating most mobs.
  • Diamond Tools: The mod integrates diamond into its crafting system with Diamond Rods, Diamond Handles, and Diamond Swords, suggesting a parallel progression for higher-tier tools.
  • Iron Tools: Iron swords can be crafted using Iron Rods, indicating a similar material-based crafting system for iron-tier items.

Ores#

DwarvenCraft introduces new ore generation parameters and a new ore type:

Ore Y-Level Range Clusters per Chunk
Coal 0-256 40
Iron 0-128 40
Gold 0-64 4
Redstone 0-32 16
Lapis 0-32 2
Diamond 0-32 2
Graphite 1-80 4

Graphite is a new ore type added by the mod.

Creatures#

The mod adds several unique creatures, some of which can be tamed or bred:

  • ABOMINATION:
    • Description: A large, aggressive, wolf-esque dwarven pet.
    • Creation: Formed by feeding a rat pup a rare magical item known as a spectral shroom.
    • Appearance: Approximately twice the size of a standard wolf, with a savage appearance.
    • Behavior: Highly aggressive towards enemy mobs, actively hunting them unless given specific commands. They possess the ability to dig through blocks, with pure stone being the highest tier they can break.
    • Stats: Possesses 10 hearts of health and deals 4 hearts of damage per attack.
  • BORING TAME SPIDERS:
    • Description: These spiders resemble standard enemy spiders but are distinguished by their bright blue eyes.
    • Creation: Hatched from a spider egg without any special modifications.
    • Behavior: Retain all the characteristics of normal spiders, including the ability to spawn webs.
    • Stats: Have 5 hearts of health and inflict 2 hearts of damage.
    • Breeding: Can be bred by feeding two of them rat pups while they are in an enclosed space. This process yields an eggsack, though there is a random chance that one of the parent spiders may 'vanish' during breeding.
  • MINI SPIDERS:
    • Creation: Created by surrounding a spider egg with other spider eggs during the hatching process.

Mechanics#

DwarvenCraft introduces several core mechanics to enhance the dwarven theme:

  • Wood Replacement: A central mechanic involves replacing many (and eventually all) items that traditionally require wood with stone or iron substitutes, encouraging a subterranean playstyle.
  • Stone Mining with Hands: Players can mine stone blocks with their bare hands to obtain cobblestone, similar to how wood is gathered in vanilla Minecraft.
  • New World Type: The mod includes a new world type, suggesting custom terrain generation or features tailored to the dwarven experience.

Recipes#

The mod introduces numerous new crafting recipes, primarily centered around its new materials:

  • Stone-based Crafting: The eight new stone types can be used to craft tools, workbenches, furnaces, stairs, and other utility blocks, providing a complete stone-based crafting tree.
  • Reinforced Tool Crafting: Recipes exist for creating reinforced versions of tools, which offer improved performance.
  • Metal Rods: Iron rods are used in the crafting of iron swords, and diamond rods/handles are used for diamond swords, indicating a shift from sticks to metal rods for tool handles.
