Overview#

The MoreVanillaArmor Mod, developed by MelanX, is a utility-focused expansion for Minecraft that provides a purpose for surplus vanilla resources. While the base game limits armor to a few tiers (Leather, Iron, Gold, Diamond, Netherite), this mod allows players to craft protective gear from nearly any common material found in the world.

Whether you have chests full of Redstone, stacks of Obsidian, or an abundance of Paper, you can now convert these materials into functional armor sets. Many of these sets go beyond simple protection, offering unique set bonuses such as fire immunity, knockback resistance, or even acting as a mobile power source.

Armor Showcase

Special Mechanics & Set Bonuses#

Several armor sets provide passive abilities or status effects when equipped. These mechanics make certain sets viable even in the late game.

  • Obsidian Armor (The Heavyweight): Wearing the full set provides massive knockback resistance, making it nearly impossible for mobs to push you. However, it applies a "Heaviness" effect, which causes the player to sink faster in water and take slightly increased fall damage.
  • Fiery Armor (Magma): Crafted from Magma Blocks, this set grants the wearer Fire Immunity. This allows for safe traversal through lava and fire without the need for potions.
  • Redstone Armor (The Generator): The Redstone Helmet acts as a mobile power source. It can power adjacent redstone components or trigger redstone-sensitive blocks simply by standing near them.
  • Slime Armor (The Bouncer): This set reduces fall damage significantly and allows the player to bounce when hitting the ground, similar to the behavior of a Slime Block.
  • Glowstone Armor: While equipped, the player becomes a source of light, making it easier to explore dark caves without placing torches constantly (requires dynamic lighting compatible shaders or mods for full effect in some versions).

Crafting Recipes#

All armor sets follow the standard vanilla crafting patterns for Helmets, Chestplates, Leggings, and Boots. The primary difference is the material used in the grid.

Material Requirements

  • Block-Based Armor: The following sets require the Block form of the material (e.g., 9 items crafted into a block) to create the armor pieces:

    • Coal Armor: Block of Coal
    • Lapis Armor: Block of Lapis Lazuli
    • Redstone Armor: Block of Redstone
    • Slime Armor: Slime Block
    • Glowstone Armor: Glowstone Block
    • Quartz Armor: Block of Quartz
    • Fiery Armor: Magma Block
    • Obsidian Armor: Obsidian Block
  • Item-Based Armor: The following sets use the raw item or plank form:

    • Emerald Armor: Emeralds
    • Bone Armor: Bones
    • Paper Armor: Paper
    • Wood Armor: Any Wood Planks
    • Stone Armor: Stone (Cobblestone or Smooth Stone depending on version)
    • Nether Armor: Nether Bricks
    • End Stone Armor: End Stone Blocks
    • Prismarine Armor: Prismarine Shards

  • Stat Adjustment: Modify the protection points and durability for each material type.
  • Effect Toggles: Enable or disable the special bonuses like Obsidian's Heaviness or Fiery's Fire Immunity.
