Overview#
Mystical Wildlife is a creature-focused mod that populates the Minecraft landscape with a diverse array of fictional animals. These creatures range from massive, fur-covered lizards to oversized, noisy insects, each designed to fit into specific biomes and provide unique utility to the player. Unlike many mob mods, Mystical Wildlife emphasizes interaction through breeding and a unique "brushing" mechanic, allowing players to harvest resources without needing to kill the animals. All creatures added by the mod are passive or neutral, making them ideal for farming and world-building.
Core Mechanics#
Brushing
The Brush is a central tool in Mystical Wildlife. It allows players to obtain specific resources from animals (such as scales or fur) while keeping the animal alive.
- Usage: Right-click a compatible animal with the Brush to receive a resource drop.
- Cooldown: After being brushed, an animal enters a "cooldown" state where it cannot be brushed again until its resource "regrows." This is visually indicated by the animal appearing slightly different (e.g., a Vrontausaurus losing its scales).
- Durability: The Brush has limited durability and will eventually break after repeated use.
Breeding
Every animal added by the mod can be bred using specific food items. Breeding follows the standard Minecraft mechanic: feeding two adult animals their preferred food will cause them to enter love mode and produce an offspring. Baby animals will eventually grow into adults and can have their growth accelerated by feeding them more of the same food.
