Overview#
Ancient Spellcraft is a comprehensive addon for the Electroblob's Wizardry mod, designed to deepen the magical experience in Minecraft. It introduces a vast array of new content, including unique spell tiers, powerful artifacts, and specialized equipment for different wizard classes. The mod focuses on discovery and progression, requiring players to research and craft ancient magic rather than simply finding it in chests.

Mechanics: Spell Discovery & Scribing#
Unlike standard Wizardry spells, Ancient Spellcraft requires a multi-step process to unlock high-tier and class-specific magic.
Spell Research
To begin, players must craft a Sphere of Cognizance. This device is used to research unknown tablets and scrolls found in the world.

The Scribing Process
- Research: Place an unknown tablet into the Sphere of Cognizance to receive hints about the spell's recipe.
- Discovery: Use Stone Tables (Small, Large, or Grand) to experiment with materials and discover the exact recipe.
- Scribing: Once a recipe is known, use the Scribing Desk. You will need:
- Magic Crystals: To power the desk.
- Ink: For writing.
- A Blank Book/Scroll: To hold the spell.
- Recipe Ingredients: Specific items (e.g., Astral Diamonds, Golden Apples) required for that specific spell.
Magical Exhaustion
Interacting with certain materials like Vertium or casting high-level chaos magic can cause Magical Exhaustion. This debuff increases mana costs and can temporarily prevent spellcasting if it reaches critical levels.
Spells and Elements#
Ancient Spellcraft categorizes spells into standard elements (Fire, Ice, Storm, etc.) and new specialized class categories.

Rituals
Rituals are large-scale spells cast by placing runes on the ground.

Artifacts#
Artifacts are rare items, many of which function as Baubles, providing permanent buffs or unique abilities.

Equipment: Armor & Class Weapons#
The mod introduces three primary wizard paths, each with dedicated gear.
Sage
- Focus: Arcane knowledge and utility.
- Weapon: Sage Tome (Acts as a high-capacity spell container).
- Armor: Sage Robes (Requires Resplendent Thread found in End Cities). Provides high mana regeneration.
Battlemage
- Focus: Combat and durability.
- Weapon: Spell Blade (A sword that can be imbued with spells and cast them on hit).
- Armor: Battlemage Armor (High physical protection and reduced spell knockback).
Warlock
- Focus: Chaos and raw power.
- Weapon: Warlock Orb (Increases the potency of chaos and offensive spells).
- Armor: Warlock Robes (Grants +15% spell potency but increases the risk of Magical Exhaustion).
Mobs#
New entities populate the world, serving as both allies and dangerous foes.

Blocks and Items#
Ores
- Vertium Ore: Found deep underground. Used for Warlock gear. Causes exhaustion if held without protection.
- Crystal Silver Ore: Used for Sage equipment and high-tier crafting.
- Astral Diamond Ore: Extremely rare ore found in the End. Required for Master-tier scribing recipes.
Utility Blocks
- Ancient Lectern: Used to display and store Ancient Spellbooks.
- Sealed Stone: A nearly unbreakable block found in vaults; can only be bypassed using a Scroll of Unsealing.
- Jeweller's Hammer: Used to socket gems into artifacts or class weapons.
Structures#
Ancient Spellcraft adds several new structures to the Overworld and other dimensions:
- Ancient Ruins: Crumbling stone structures guarded by Ancient Wizards. They contain Scribing Desks and hidden chests with spell tablets.
- Magical Vaults: Underground chambers sealed with Sealed Stone. They require specific keys or spells to enter and contain the mod's most powerful artifacts.
- Wizard Academies: Large towers where Wizard Merchants reside. They often contain libraries with rare scrolls and research materials.
