Berry Good is a minor utility and content mod developed by Team Abnormals that focuses on refining the interaction, utility, and culinary potential of berries in Minecraft. The mod's primary goal is to solve common player frustrations—such as accidentally planting a Sweet Berry while trying to eat it—while expanding the role of berries as a viable food source through new processing items like Pips and Mince.

By introducing a dedicated planting item (Pips), the mod separates the act of farming from the act of consumption. Additionally, it provides integration with other Team Abnormals mods, ensuring a consistent experience across various berry types found in different biomes.

Berry Good adds several items that allow players to process berries into more efficient forms for both farming and eating.

Pips

Pips are the primary planting seeds for berry-bearing plants. Once Berry Good is installed, raw berries can no longer be placed on the ground to grow bushes; instead, Pips must be used.

• Sweet Berry Pips: Used to plant Sweet Berry Bushes. They have a 30% chance to increase the level of a Composter.
• Glow Berry Pips: Used to plant Cave Vines on the underside of blocks.

Mince and Meatballs

Mince is a processed form of berries that serves as a more substantial food source or a crafting ingredient for advanced meals.

• Sweet Berry Mince: A raw food item crafted from Sweet Berries. It provides better nutrition than raw berries.
• Sweet Berry Meatballs: The cooked version of Sweet Berry Mince. These are highly efficient food items, comparable to high-tier meats like Steak or Cooked Porkchops.
• Glow Berry Mince: A processed version of Glow Berries that retains the fruit's bioluminescent properties.

Glowgurt

Glowgurt is a specialized dairy-based food item that combines the benefits of Glow Berries with the saturation of milk and sugar. It is a signature food item for players exploring dark environments.

The mod introduces several quality-of-life mechanics that change how players interact with the environment and wildlife.

Planting Changes

In vanilla Minecraft, Sweet Berries and Glow Berries serve as both the food and the seed. Berry Good changes this by disabling the ability to plant raw berries. Players must now craft berries into Pips to start a farm. This prevents the common issue of accidentally placing a berry bush when the player intended to eat the berry.

Harvesting with Shears

Players can now use Shears to harvest mature Sweet Berry Bushes or Glow Berry Bushes. By right-clicking a fully grown bush with Shears, the player will receive the standard berry drop plus 1-2 additional berries. This makes Shears a valuable tool for large-scale berry farming.

Fox Interactions

Foxes, which naturally consume berries, have been updated to interact with the mod's new items. When a Fox eats berries from a bush, there is a small chance it will drop Pips on the ground, allowing players to collect seeds passively by observing wild foxes.

Consumption Drops

Eating a raw Sweet Berry or Glow Berry has a 5% chance to grant the player a corresponding Pip. This simulates the player "spitting out the seeds" while eating, providing a slow but steady way to gather planting materials without using a crafting table.

The following table outlines the primary crafting and processing recipes introduced by the mod.

Berry Good is designed to work seamlessly with other mods in the Team Abnormals ecosystem. If the following mods are installed, Berry Good will automatically add Pips and Mince variants for their respective berries:

• Neapolitan: Adds Strawberry Pips and Strawberry Mince. Strawberry Pips are used to plant Strawberry bushes on Farmland.
• Autumnity: Adds Sappy Berry Pips and Sappy Berry Mince. Sappy Berry Pips are used to plant Sappy Berry bushes.
• Atmospheric: Adds Yucca Pips and Yucca Mince for the Yucca Fruit found in arid biomes.
• Environmental: Adds Cherry Pips for planting Cherry Saplings or bushes (depending on the version).

These integrated items follow the same mechanical rules as the standard Sweet Berry items, including the shearing bonus and the 5% drop rate upon consumption.
