Equivalent Energistics Mod 1.12.2, Wiki

Equivalent Energistics is a bridge mod for Minecraft that integrates Applied Energistics 2 with ProjectE or Equivalent Exchange 3, allowing for seamless EMC-based autocrafting and storage within an ME network.

Overview#

Equivalent Energistics serves as a powerful expansion for Applied Energistics 2 (AE2), bridging the gap between digital storage and alchemical transmutation. By integrating with either ProjectE or Equivalent Exchange 3 (EE3), the mod allows players to treat EMC as a craftable resource within their ME network.

In its latest iterations (v0.7+), the mod introduces a dedicated EMC storage system similar to AE2's item and fluid storage, enabling the network to hold raw EMC values that can be instantly converted into any learned item on demand. This eliminates the need for massive physical storage for common materials, replacing them with a unified alchemical energy pool.

Items#

The mod adds several items essential for managing EMC and teaching the ME network new transmutations.

Alchemical Tome (ProjectE Only)

The Alchemical Tome is a central item used to sync a player's transmutation knowledge with the ME network.

  • Usage: Right-click in the air to "teach" the tome your current learned transmutations. Once linked, the tome will automatically update whenever you learn a new EMC value.
  • Clearing: Shift + Right-click to clear the tome of its owner and all stored knowledge.
  • Integration: Place this tome into an EMC Assembler to grant the ME network access to all items you have researched.

EMC Crystals

In older versions (pre-v0.7), EMC was stored as physical crystals. In newer versions, these are primarily used as intermediate crafting components or for specific legacy recipes.

  • EMC Crystal: Stores a base amount of EMC (configurable, default 1,000).
  • Dense EMC Crystal: Stores 10x the EMC of a standard crystal.
  • Super Dense EMC Crystal: Stores 100x the EMC of a standard crystal.

EMC Storage Cells (v0.7+)

Similar to ME Item Storage Cells, these cells store raw EMC directly in the network. They come in 8 tiers, with capacity increasing significantly at each level. Higher tiers require Nether Stars and advanced AE2 components to craft.

Blocks#

The mod introduces specialized machinery to handle the conversion and crafting of EMC-based items.

EMC Condenser

The EMC Condenser is the primary input for alchemical energy. When connected to an ME network, any items piped into it are destroyed and converted into EMC (or EMC Crystals in older versions).

  • Power Usage: Drawing power from the ME network, the cost is proportional to the EMC value of the items being condensed.
  • Tiers (v0.7+):
    • Basic: Handles items up to ~8,000 EMC.
    • Advanced: Handles items up to ~80,000 EMC.
    • Ultimate: No EMC limit; can condense any item instantly.

EMC Assembler

The EMC Assembler acts as a virtual pattern provider. Instead of manual patterns, it uses a linked Tome to identify every item the player knows how to transmute.

  • Function: Once a Tome is inserted (Right-click), all learned items appear in the ME Terminal as "Craftable."
  • Operation: When a craft is requested, the Assembler consumes the required EMC from the network's storage cells and instantly produces the item. It requires a channel and a Crafting CPU to function.

Mechanics#

Autocrafting with EMC

Unlike standard AE2 autocrafting which requires physical ingredients, EMC autocrafting uses the stored EMC value in the network.

  1. Knowledge Sync: The player teaches their transmutations to an Alchemical Tome (ProjectE) or Tome of Alchemical Knowledge (EE3).
  2. Pattern Provision: The Tome is placed in an EMC Assembler connected to the network.
  3. Execution: When a player requests an item via the ME Terminal, the system calculates the EMC cost. If the network has enough stored EMC (in cells or crystals), the Crafting CPU executes the task, and the Assembler "crafts" the item instantly.

EMC Storage System (v0.7+)

In the rewritten version 0.7, EMC is no longer just an item. It is a fluid-like resource stored in EMC Storage Cells.

  • Network Integration: The total EMC available is displayed in the ME network.
  • Excess EMC: If a recipe uses crystals and there is leftover EMC, the Assembler stores the remainder internally until it has enough to form a new crystal or fulfill another request.

Condensing Logic

The Condenser can be automated using AE2 Export Busses or standard pipes. It will only accept items with a valid EMC value. If an item without EMC is inserted, it will remain in the input slot or be ejected if a chest is adjacent to the Condenser.

Recipes#

Recipes vary slightly depending on whether ProjectE or Equivalent Exchange 3 is detected.

ProjectE Integration

Result Ingredients
EMC Condenser 4x High Covalence Dust, 4x Stone, 1x Annihilation Core
EMC Assembler 4x High Covalence Dust, 4x Stone Slab, 1x Formation Core
Alchemical Tome 4x High Covalence Dust, 1x Book
EMC Crystal 1x High Covalence Dust, 1x Quartz Crystal

EE3 Integration

Result Ingredients
EMC Condenser 4x Minium Dust, 4x Ash Infused Stone, 1x Annihilation Core
EMC Assembler 4x Minium Dust, 4x Ash Infused Stone Slabs, 1x Formation Core

EMC Storage Components (v0.7+)

  • Tier 1: 1x Logic Processor, 4x Redstone, 2x Quartz Glass, 1x Covalence Dust/Minium Dust.
  • Higher Tiers: Generally follow the AE2 progression, requiring 3 of the previous tier's components, a higher-tier Processor (Calculation/Engineering), and rare materials like Nether Stars for the final tiers.

Configuration#

The mod's behavior can be heavily customized via the equivalentenergistics.cfg file. Key settings include:

  • Crystal EMC Value: Sets how much EMC a single crystal represents (default 1,000).
  • Power Multipliers: Adjusts the AE power cost for condensing items and crafting with EMC.
  • Condensing Speed: Controls how many items the Condenser can process per tick.
  • Mod Detection: Force the mod to use either ProjectE or EE3 if both are installed.
  • Max EMC Value: Defines the maximum EMC value a single item can have to be craftable (default is approximately 48 Billion).
