Overview#
FrostCraft (Frozen) is a massive overhaul mod for Minecraft that transforms the world into a harsh, arctic environment. It introduces a complex survival system centered around body temperature, new elemental status effects, and a suite of frost-themed equipment. Players must contend with freezing temperatures, navigate snow-covered biomes, and battle specialized mobs that thrive in the cold. The mod also includes a unique energy system (CFU) and industrial machines designed to harness the power of ice.
Core Mechanics#
Temperature System
The mod introduces a Body Temperature Bar located at the top of the HUD. This bar tracks the player's thermal state:
- Blue (Cold): Increases when standing in snow, water, or during the night. If the bar exceeds 70% blue, the player suffers from Nausea, Slowness, and Weakness. At 100%, the player begins taking freezing damage.
- Red (Warm): Maintained by standing near heat sources like Torches, Glowstone, or Lava. Wearing Wool or Frost Armor significantly slows the rate of cooling.
Status Effects
- Freeze: Significantly reduces movement and mining speed. Higher levels of Freeze can completely immobilize a target.
- FrostBurn: A cold-based damage-over-time effect, similar to fire but applied by frozen weapons and projectiles.
Mobs & Entities#
FrostCraft adds several hostile and neutral entities that spawn primarily in cold biomes.

Items & Equipment#
Frost Bow
The Frost Bow is the signature weapon of the mod. It fires frozen-tip arrows that apply both Freeze and FrostBurn to targets.
- Durability: 284
- Ammunition: Requires both an Iceball and a standard Arrow to fire.
- Special Mechanic: If enchanted with Flame, the bow's description will read: "What a waste of a Frost Bow". In this state, it loses its ability to freeze or frostburn mobs.
Materials
- Frost Iron: A mid-tier metal used for basic frost tools and machines.
- Frost Diamond: A rare gem used for high-tier equipment and summoning the Frost Wing boss.
- Iceball: Crafted from snow and ice; used as ammunition and a crafting component.
Armor Sets
- Wool Armor: Crafted from wool blocks. Provides high thermal insulation but low physical protection.
- Frostium Armor: Crafted from Frost Iron. Provides moderate protection and grants the Frost Protection buff, making the player immune to FrostBurn damage.
Blocks & Machines#
World Generation
- Frost Ore: Found deep within frozen biomes. Drops Frost Iron or Frost Diamonds.
- Frozen Wood/Leaves: Custom trees that grow in the Frostland biome. The wood can be crafted into Frozen Planks.
- Icicles: Decorative blocks that hang from ceilings. They deal damage if they fall on a player.
Technology (CFU System)
FrostCraft uses CFU (FrostCraft Units) to power machines.
- Frost Generator: Consumes frozen materials (Ice, Snow) to generate CFU.
- Freezer: Uses CFU to turn water into ice or create specialized frozen items like Iceballs.
- Frost Enforcer: A high-tier machine used to imbue tools with permanent freezing enchantments.

Structures#
The Castle / Tower
A rare structure that spawns once every 500-block radius. It contains high-tier loot chests guarded by Frost Walkers and often houses a Frost Statue at the summit for boss summoning.
Frozen Fortress
Large underground or surface complexes made of Frozen Bricks. These fortresses are the primary spawning grounds for Snow Beasts and contain the materials needed to progress into the mod's late-game technology.
