Overview#
Lazier AE2 is a utility-focused addon for Applied Energistics 2 (AE2) designed to alleviate the complexity and physical footprint of standard AE2 automation. While the base mod requires intricate setups involving water pools for crystal growth and multiple Inscribers for processor production, Lazier AE2 consolidates these processes into dedicated, efficient machines.
The mod focuses on "Speculative Processing," a lore-friendly mechanic that allows for faster and more reliable resource generation. These machines are fully compatible with AE2 cables, ME patterns, and standard automation tools like hoppers and pipes. They primarily consume Forge Energy (FE) or AE power, making them easy to integrate into existing power grids.
Machines#
The core of Lazier AE2 consists of four primary machines. Each machine is designed to replace a specific, often tedious, AE2 mechanic with a single-block solution.
Fluix Aggregator
The Fluix Aggregator is used to create Fluix Crystals without the need to drop items into water. It is significantly faster than the manual method and can be fully automated.
- Function: Combines materials to form Fluix Crystals.
- Input: 1x Charged Certus Quartz, 1x Redstone, 1x Quartz (Nether or Certus).
- Output: 2x Fluix Crystals.
Pulse Centrifuge
The Pulse Centrifuge is a high-speed processing unit used to break down crystals into dusts or extract specific components from materials. It serves as a more efficient alternative to the Quartz Grindstone.
- Function: Grinds crystals and materials into dust form.
- Common Recipes: Fluix Crystals to Fluix Dust, Certus Quartz to Certus Dust, Ender Pearls to Ender Dust.
Crystal Growth Chamber
This machine eliminates the need for Crystal Growth Accelerators and water pools. It provides a controlled environment for seeds to mature into pure crystals instantly upon completion of the work cycle.
- Function: Grows Pure Certus, Pure Nether, and Pure Fluix Crystals from seeds.
- Efficiency: Consumes constant power to maintain the growth environment, significantly reducing the time required compared to traditional methods.
Circuit Etcher
The Circuit Etcher is the ultimate replacement for the AE2 Inscriber. Unlike the Inscriber, which requires specific presses and multiple stages, the Circuit Etcher can handle the entire processor creation process in one interface.
- Function: Etches and assembles Logic, Calculation, and Engineering Processors.
- Input Slots: Specifically designed slots for the printed circuit, the silicon, and the redstone binder.
Items and Components#
Lazier AE2 introduces several items necessary for crafting its advanced machinery and upgrading their performance.
Crafting Components
| Item | Description | Usage |
|---|---|---|
| Speculative Processor | The core logic unit of the mod. | Used in the crafting recipes for all Lazier AE2 machines. |
| Parallel Processor | An upgrade component. | Inserted into machines to allow them to process multiple items simultaneously. |
| Coal Dust | Finely ground coal. | Used in various industrial recipes and for creating carbon-based components. |
| Iron Dust | Pulverized iron ore or ingots. | Used for efficient smelting and alloy creation. |
| Gold Dust | Pulverized gold. | Used in the creation of Logic Processors. |
Speculative Processor
The Speculative Processor is the most important intermediate item. It is crafted by combining a Logic Processor, an Engineering Processor, and a Calculation Processor in a Pulse Centrifuge or through standard crafting, depending on the configuration. It represents the combined computing power required to run the mod's advanced logic cycles.
Mechanics and Automation#
Energy System
All machines in Lazier AE2 operate on Forge Energy (FE). They can be powered via standard energy cables or by placing them directly against an ME Power Transmitter.
- Base Consumption: Most machines consume 1,000 FE/t during operation.
- Idle Draw: Machines have a negligible idle power draw to maintain their internal buffers.
Parallel Processing
One of the unique mechanics of this mod is the Parallel Processor upgrade. By installing these into a machine's upgrade slots, the machine can process larger batches of items in a single cycle without increasing the time taken per cycle.
- 1x Parallel Processor: Processes 2 items at once.
- 2x Parallel Processor: Processes 4 items at once.
- 3x Parallel Processor: Processes 8 items at once.
Automation Compatibility
Every machine features side-configuration capabilities. Users can define which sides are for Input, Output, or Power. This makes them compatible with:
- AE2 ME Interfaces: For automated crafting patterns.
- Hoppers: For basic item transport.
- External Pipes: Compatible with most major tech mods' piping systems.

Configuration#
Lazier AE2 provides a robust configuration file (lazierae2-common.toml) that allows server owners and players to balance the mod for their specific needs.
- Energy Costs: The FE/t consumption of every machine can be adjusted.
- Processing Times: The base tick-rate for recipes can be increased or decreased.
- Parallel Limits: The maximum number of items processed per upgrade can be capped.
- Recipe Toggles: Specific machine recipes can be disabled to force players to use standard AE2 mechanics if desired.
