Overview#
Lost Eclipse is an immersive, challenging RPG mod designed to transform Minecraft into a deep action-adventure experience. It replaces standard progression with a system focused on character growth, skill trees, and loot hunting. Players explore a world where difficulty scales with distance from spawn, discovering massive procedurally generated towers and dungeons filled with custom monsters and legendary artifacts.
Key features include:
- Character Progression: Leveling system with stat points and skill trees.
- Dynamic Loot: Randomly generated stats on weapons and armor with Diablo-style rarities.
- Custom Combat: New weapon types like daggers, maces, and staves with unique attack speeds and mana costs.
- World Scaling: An 'Area Level' system where mobs become stronger the further you travel from the starting point.
Core Mechanics#
Leveling and Stats
Upon entering the world, players begin at Level 1. Experience is gained by defeating mobs. Each level up grants stat points that can be invested into four primary attributes:
| Stat | Primary Effects |
|---|---|
| Strength | Increases melee damage and physical defense. |
| Dexterity | Increases ranged damage, attack speed, and movement speed. |
| Intelligence | Increases magic damage, maximum mana, and mana regeneration. |
| Vitality | Increases maximum health and health regeneration. |
Classes
Players can specialize their playstyle through a skill tree. While the mod allows for hybrid builds, the primary archetypes are:
- Warrior: Focuses on Strength and Vitality, utilizing heavy armor and maces.
- Archer: Focuses on Dexterity, utilizing bows and light armor.
- Mage: Focuses on Intelligence, utilizing staves and magical glyphs.
Mana and Stamina
Magical weapons and certain abilities consume Mana, which regenerates over time based on Intelligence. Physical actions and certain heavy attacks may consume Stamina, requiring players to manage their resources during prolonged combat.
Mobs and Bosses#
Mobs in Lost Eclipse are not static; they spawn with levels and rarities that determine their health, damage, and abilities.
Common Monsters
- Goblins: Small, fast enemies often found in groups. Variants include Scouts (ranged) and Warriors (melee).
- Orcs: High-health bruisers that deal heavy physical damage.
- Undead Variants: Skeletons and Zombies often spawn with specialized gear and higher levels in dark areas.
Bosses
Bosses are found at the end of massive dungeons or at the top of towers. They feature multiple combat stages and unique AI behaviors.
- The Eclipse Guardian: A powerful boss guarding high-tier loot in central dungeon chambers.
- Tower Lords: Found at the apex of procedurally generated towers, these bosses must be defeated to unlock the highest rarity chests.
Items and Equipment#
Item Rarities
Equipment dropped by mobs or found in chests follows a color-coded rarity system. Higher rarities have more random stat modifiers (affixes).
| Rarity | Color | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Common | White | Basic stats, no extra modifiers. |
| Uncommon | Green | 1-2 minor modifiers. |
| Rare | Blue | 2-3 significant modifiers. |
| Epic | Purple | 4+ modifiers, high base stats. |
| Legendary | Orange | Unique powerful effects and maximum modifiers. |
| Mythic | Red | The rarest tier with game-breaking potential. |
Weapon Types
- Daggers: Very high attack speed but low range and base damage.
- Maces: Slow, heavy-hitting weapons that can stun enemies.
- Staves: Used to cast spells; requires mana to function.
- Bows: Standard ranged option, scaling heavily with Dexterity.
Consumables
- Loot Bags: Dropped by mobs; right-click to open and receive random equipment.
- Scrolls & Glyphs: Used to cast one-time spells or learn permanent abilities.
- Orbs of Rerolling: Rare items that allow players to reset the random stats on a piece of gear.
World Generation#
The mod significantly alters world exploration by adding massive, complex structures.
Dungeons
Procedurally generated underground complexes. They are filled with spawners, traps, and loot chests. The deeper the dungeon, the higher the level of the mobs inside.
Towers
Tall structures that generate on the surface. Each floor increases in difficulty, culminating in a boss fight at the top. Towers are the most reliable source of high-tier equipment.
Area Leveling
Difficulty is determined by the distance from the world spawn point (0,0).
- 0 - 1000 blocks: Level 1-10 mobs.
- 1000 - 5000 blocks: Level 10-30 mobs.
- 5000+ blocks: High-level endgame content.
Blocks and Ores#
Lost Eclipse adds several new blocks primarily used in its custom structures and for crafting RPG-specific items.
- Eclipse Ore: A rare ore found deep underground used to craft base RPG gear and upgrade components.
- Dungeon Bricks: Highly blast-resistant blocks that make up the walls of generated towers and dungeons.
- Rune Stones: Decorative and functional blocks found in magical biomes or structures.
Configuration and Commands#
Server administrators can customize the experience using the following commands:
/lsc level set <player> <value>- Sets a player's current level./lsc stats reset- Resets the player's stat points for redistribution./lsc dungeon spawn- Forces a dungeon to generate at the current location (for testing).
Configuration File (lost_eclipse.cfg):
- Mob Scaling: Adjust how quickly mob health and damage increase with level.
- Loot Rates: Modify the drop chance of various item rarities.
- Structure Frequency: Control how often towers and dungeons generate in the world.
