Overview#

Majrusz's Progressive Difficulty Mod (MPD) transforms the Minecraft experience by introducing a scaling difficulty system. Inspired by the progression mechanics of Terraria, the mod divides the game into three primary stages: Normal Mode, Expert Mode, and Master Mode. As players reach specific milestones, the world becomes increasingly hostile, introducing new mob behaviors, environmental hazards, and powerful bosses. To compensate for the rising danger, players can discover unique items, treasure bags, and the high-tier Enderium resource.

Game Stages

Stage Activation Trigger Key Changes
Normal Mode Default start of the game Standard difficulty; basic bleeding mechanics; initial Undead Army waves.
Expert Mode Entering the Nether (or any modded dimension) Increased mob HP/Damage (+15%); Illusioners spawn; Undead Army reaches 5 waves.
Master Mode Defeating the Ender Dragon Maximum difficulty (+30% HP/Damage); Cerberus spawns naturally; Undead Army reaches 6 waves.

Core Mechanics#

Bleeding

Bleeding is a damage-over-time effect similar to Poison or Wither. It can be inflicted by various sources, including swords, arrows, cacti, and specific mobs like Spiders or Zombies. The severity of the effect increases with the game stage.

  • Cure: Can be removed using Bandages or Golden Bandages.
  • Scaling: In Expert Mode, bleeding starts at Level II. In Master Mode, it starts at Level III.
  • Movement Factor: Damage frequency increases if the player is moving (running > walking > standing still).

Mob Groups

Hostile mobs have a chance to spawn in organized groups consisting of one Leader and several Followers.

  • Leaders: More likely to wear high-quality armor and carry banners.
  • Followers: Typically equipped with weapons and will focus on the same target as their leader.

Treasure Bags

Treasure Bags are unique loot containers inspired by Terraria. They are awarded to every player participating in a boss fight or raid.

Bag Type Source Notable Loot
Undead Army Bag Defeating the Undead Army Soul Jar, Cloth, Bones, Gold
Warden Bag Defeating the Warden Sonic Scroll, Echo Shards
Wither Bag Defeating the Wither Wither Sword, Infernal Sponge
Ender Dragon Bag Defeating the Ender Dragon Ender Pouch, Enderium Shard Locator
Angler Bag Fishing (every 16 items) Enchanted Fishing Rods, Nautilus Shells

Cerberus

A three-headed undead hound that breathes fire and inflicts Wither.

  • Health: 240 HP (120 Hearts)
  • Abilities:
    • Bite: Hits all targets in a 2.5-block radius and disables shields.
    • Fire Breath: Shoots 9 fireballs in bursts if the target is at range.

Items & Equipment#

Enderium Gear

Enderium is the ultimate late-game material, used to upgrade Netherite equipment at a Smithing Table.

  • Enderium Ingot: Crafted from 6 Enderium Shards and 1 Eye of Ender.
  • Enderium Set Bonuses:
    • Helmet: Neutralizes Endermen (can look them in the eye).
    • 2 Pieces: +1 Looting/Fortune level while in the End.
    • 3 Pieces: Chorus Fruit gives random positive buffs instead of teleporting.
    • Full Set: Void Protection — Teleports the player to their spawn point if they fall into the Void (items are dropped at the fall location).

Utility Items

  • Soul Jar: Stores up to 3 mob souls. Holding it in the off-hand provides buffs (e.g., Wolf = +Damage, Horse = +Armor). Can be combined with a Shield.
  • Ender Pouch: A portable Ender Chest that can be accessed from the inventory.
  • Recall Potion: Instantly teleports the player to their last spawn point (works across dimensions).
  • Infernal Sponge: Absorbs lava in a large radius, turning into a Soaked Infernal Sponge (dried underwater).
  • Wither Sword: Inflicts Wither on hit; dropped by the Wither or found in Wither Treasure Bags.
  • Sonic Scroll: Allows the player to fire a sonic boom attack similar to the Warden.

Bandages

Undead Army

A raid-style event triggered by killing undead mobs (Zombies, Skeletons, etc.).

  • Trigger: First raid starts after 25 kills; subsequent raids every 100 kills. Can also be started with an Undead Battle Standard.
  • Waves: Increases with difficulty (3 waves in Normal, up to 6 in Master).
  • Reward: All participants receive an Undead Army Treasure Bag.

Blocks & Resources#

Enderium Ore
