Paragliders Mod Wiki

The Paragliders mod introduces a comprehensive stamina system and aerial traversal mechanics inspired by The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, allowing players to glide across the world and upgrade their physical attributes through ancient statues.

Overview#

The Paragliders mod, often referred to as the Advanced Evolutionary Aircraft system in version 26.1.2, is a transformative utility mod for Minecraft. It replaces or augments traditional movement with a physics-based gliding system and a robust stamina management mechanic. Players must balance their exertion while gliding, climbing, or performing strenuous activities. The mod is deeply integrated into world exploration, encouraging players to discover hidden structures and collect rare items to permanently increase their health and stamina capacities.

Items#

The mod adds several key items essential for traversal and progression. These items are divided between tools for flight and consumables for character growth.

Paraglider

The primary tool of the mod. When held in the air, it allows the player to glide slowly downward while moving forward at increased speeds. Gliding consumes stamina continuously; if the stamina bar empties, the paraglider will fold, leading to a freefall.

Spirit Orb

A rare currency obtained primarily from dungeon loot chests or as rewards for specific challenges. Spirit Orbs are not used directly but are offered to Goddess Statues to obtain upgrades. Typically, four Spirit Orbs are required for a single upgrade.

Heart Container

An item that, when consumed, increases the player's maximum health by one heart (2 HP). These are usually obtained by trading Spirit Orbs at a Goddess Statue.

Stamina Vessel

An item that increases the player's maximum stamina capacity. Each vessel adds a segment to the stamina wheel, allowing for longer flight times and more strenuous activity. These are also obtained via Goddess Statue trades.

Anti-Stamina Vessel

Obtained from the Horned Statue, this item is used in the process of 'respecing' or swapping your upgrades between health and stamina.

Item Purpose Acquisition
Paraglider Aerial traversal Crafting
Spirit Orb Upgrade currency Loot Chests
Heart Container Increases Max HP Goddess Statue Trade
Stamina Vessel Increases Max Stamina Goddess Statue Trade
Anti-Stamina Vessel Stat reallocation Horned Statue Trade

Blocks#

The mod introduces interactive blocks that serve as the primary hubs for player progression.

Goddess Statue

The Goddess Statue is a benevolent block found naturally in villages or occasionally in forest biomes. Players can interact with the statue if they have at least four Spirit Orbs in their inventory. The statue provides a choice: receive a Heart Container to increase health or a Stamina Vessel to increase energy.

Horned Statue

The Horned Statue is a more sinister counterpart to the Goddess Statue, typically found in dark or underground locations. It allows players to 'sell' their Heart Containers or Stamina Vessels for essence (currency) and then buy back the opposite stat. This allows players to reconfigure their character build if they find they need more stamina for flight or more health for combat.

Mechanics#

The core of the mod revolves around the interplay between movement and the Stamina System.

The Stamina System

Upon installing the mod, a stamina wheel appears near the player's crosshair (or in a configured HUD position).

  • Consumption: Stamina is consumed by gliding, sprinting, and swimming. If other mods are installed (like Wall-Jump), climbing will also consume stamina.
  • Regeneration: Stamina regenerates automatically when the player is standing still, walking, or on the ground. Regeneration is paused for a short duration after stamina is fully depleted.
  • States: The wheel changes color based on the remaining amount. It turns yellow when low and red when nearly empty. If it hits zero, the player enters a 'tired' state with reduced movement speed until it partially refills.

Gliding Physics

Gliding is not infinite flight. The Paraglider follows a descent curve.

  • Deployment: The paraglider can be deployed mid-air by pressing the use key (Right-Click) while the item is in the main hand or off-hand.

Progression and Scaling

Players start with a base amount of stamina (typically 1000 units or 1 full wheel). By collecting Spirit Orbs, players can expand this up to a maximum defined in the configuration (defaulting to 10 additional vessels/containers).

Recipes#

The Paraglider is the only primary item that is crafted using standard materials. Statues and Orbs are generally intended to be found through exploration.

Paraglider Crafting

To craft a basic Paraglider, you will need Leather and Sticks.

S. S S = Stick

Statue Crafting (Optional/Config Dependent)

In some configurations, statues can be crafted if they do not spawn in the world:

  • Goddess Statue: 4 Gold Ingots and 5 Stone blocks.
  • Horned Statue: 4 Iron Ingots and 5 Crying Obsidian.

Configuration#

The mod provides an extensive paraglider-common.toml and paraglider-client.toml file for server administrators and players to customize the experience.

  • Stamina Consumption: Adjust how much stamina is used per tick of gliding or sprinting.
  • Starting Stats: Change the initial number of hearts or stamina segments a player begins with.
  • UI Customization: Move the stamina wheel to different corners of the screen or change its scale.
  • Integration: Toggle whether the stamina system affects actions from other mods (e.g., disabling stamina drain for swimming if using a different thirst/stamina mod).
