Overview#

Pixelmon Reforged is the definitive Pokémon experience within Minecraft. It replaces standard mob spawning with Pokémon from every generation (1-9), including Legendaries, Mythicals, and Ultra Beasts. The mod introduces a complete turn-based battle system that mirrors the mainline games, alongside deep mechanics like breeding, EV/IV training, and Mega Evolution. Players can explore a world filled with Pokémon Centers, Gyms, and ancient Shrines, all while crafting their own Poké Balls and specialized machinery to become a Pokémon Master.

Pokémon and Mobs#

The mod features over 1,017 Pokémon species. These creatures inhabit specific biomes and appear based on time of day, weather, and rarity.

Spawning Categories

  • Land: Most Pokémon spawn on solid ground in their respective biomes.
  • Water: Aquatic Pokémon spawn in oceans, rivers, and lakes. Some require fishing with an Old, Good, or Super Rod.
  • Air: Flying Pokémon can be found soaring in the sky.
  • Underground: Certain Rock and Ground types appear in caves.
  • Legendaries: These have unique spawn conditions, often tied to a global timer (every 12.5 to 29 minutes) and specific biomes.

Boss Pokémon

Bosses are larger, more powerful versions of standard Pokémon that do not spawn as wild encounters but rather as special challenges. They are color-coded by difficulty:

Boss Tier Color Difficulty Notable Rewards
Uncommon Green Easy Potions, Poké Balls
Rare Blue Medium TMs, Evolution Stones
Legendary Red Hard Master Balls, Rare Candies
Ultimate Yellow Extreme Mega Stones, Orbs

Items#

Pixelmon adds hundreds of items, ranging from capture tools to competitive held items.

Poké Balls

Poké Balls are the primary tool for catching Pokémon. They are crafted using Apricorns and metal bases.

  • Master Ball: 100% catch rate. Found in loot chests or as boss drops.
  • Ultra Ball: 2x catch rate.
  • Quick Ball: 5x catch rate if used on the first turn.
  • Timer Ball: Increases effectiveness the longer the battle lasts.

Berries and Apricorns

Apricorns are harvested from Apricorn Trees and are essential for crafting Poké Ball discs. Berries provide various effects, such as healing status conditions or lowering EVs.

Evolution Items

  • Evolution Stones: Fire, Water, Thunder, Leaf, etc. Found as ores or shards.
  • Held Items: Items like the Protector or Reaper Cloth used for trade-based evolution.

Blocks and Machinery#

Functional blocks are the backbone of a trainer's base.

Essential Machines

  • Healer: Restores the HP and PP of all Pokémon in your party. Requires a Diamond, Iron Ingots, and Aluminum Plates.
  • PC: Used to store Pokémon beyond the six in your active party. Essential for managing a large collection.
  • Fossil Machine: A multi-block structure used to clean and revive Fossils into living Pokémon.
  • Trade Machine: Allows players to trade Pokémon with one another, often triggering specific evolutions.
  • Ranch Block: The core of the breeding system. Pokémon placed here will attempt to breed if their environment is suitable.

Crafting Tools

  • Anvil: Used with a Hammer to turn Poké Ball discs into lids and aluminum ingots into plates.
  • Mechanical Anvil: An automated version of the standard anvil that uses fuel to process items.

Mechanics#

Pixelmon replicates the deep strategic mechanics of the Pokémon series.

Catching

The success of a catch depends on the Pokémon's remaining HP, status effects (Sleep and Freeze are most effective), and the type of Poké Ball used. Using the move False Swipe is recommended as it leaves the target with at least 1 HP.

Breeding

To breed Pokémon, place a male and female of the same Egg Group (or one Pokémon and a Ditto) into a Ranch Block. The environment around the Ranch Block must match the Pokémon's types (e.g., lava for Fire types, water for Water types) to increase their satisfaction and breeding speed.

Battle Systems

  • Mega Evolution: Requires a Mega Ring and the corresponding Mega Stone held by the Pokémon.
  • Z-Moves: Requires a Z-Ring and a Z-Crystal.
  • Dynamax/Gigantamax: Accessible in Max Raid Dens found throughout the world.
  • Terastal (Tera): The newest mechanic allowing Pokémon to change their type mid-battle.

Stats: IVs and EVs

  • IVs (Individual Values): Permanent stats determined at birth/spawn. Can be maxed using Bottle Caps.
  • EVs (Effort Values): Stats gained through battling. Can be reset using specific Berries or increased with Vitamins.

Structures and World Gen#

The world is populated with custom structures that provide loot and gameplay opportunities.

  • Pokémon Centers: Found in villages; contain Healers and PCs.
  • Gyms: Large structures themed around a specific type. Defeating the Gym Leader grants a Badge.
  • Shrines: Ancient structures used to summon Legendary Pokémon. For example, the Ilex Shrine is used for Celebi, while the Bird Shrines (Fire, Static, Frozen) are used for Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno.
  • PokéStops: Found in various biomes, providing random items when interacted with.
  • Graveyards: Spooky structures where Ghost-type Pokémon frequently spawn.
