Overview#
Pokécube is an expansive Minecraft mod that populates the world with over 800 unique creatures known as Pokémobs. Unlike other Pokémon mods, Pokécube focuses on a seamless integration with vanilla Minecraft mechanics, featuring real-time combat where Pokémobs interact directly with the environment and other entities. Players can capture, train, breed, and even genetically engineer their Pokémobs while exploring new dimensions like Ultra Space and discovering massive legendary structures.
The mod is modular, consisting of the Core (mechanics and base mobs), Adventures (NPCs, trainers, and advanced machines), and Legends (legendary quests, structures, and dimensions). It is designed to be compatible with various tech and magic mods, allowing Pokémobs to power machinery or interact with complex automation systems.
Pokémobs#
Pokémobs are the heart of the mod. Each species possesses unique stats, types, and behaviors. They spawn naturally across nearly every biome, including those added by other mods.
Stats and Attributes
Every Pokémob has a set of base stats that determine its combat effectiveness:
- HP (Health Points): Total durability.
- Attack/Defense: Physical combat prowess.
- Sp. Atk/Sp. Def: Special/Elemental combat prowess.
- Speed: Determines move frequency and escape chance.
- IVs & EVs: Individual and Effort Values that further specialize a mob's growth.
- Nature: A personality trait that provides a 10% bonus to one stat and a 10% penalty to another.
Behavior and Interaction
Pokémobs exhibit three primary behaviors:
- Wild: Can be passive, defensive, or aggressive. Aggressive mobs will attack players on sight.
- Tamed: Captured using a Pokécube. They follow the owner and can be set to 'Sit', 'Stay', or 'Follow'.
- Legendary: Rare entities often tied to specific structures or summoning rituals.
Representative Pokémobs Table
| Pokémob | Type | Common Spawn | Notable Drops | Behavior |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bulbasaur | Grass/Poison | Forests | Vine, Seeds | Passive |
| Charmander | Fire | Mountains/Deserts | Blaze Powder | Defensive |
| Squirtle | Water | Oceans/Rivers | Shell, Water Bucket | Passive |
| Pikachu | Electric | Plains | Redstone, Glowstone | Defensive |
| Gastly | Ghost/Poison | Swamps/Night | Ghast Tear | Aggressive |
| Mewtwo | Psychic | Cloning Lab | Nether Star | Aggressive |

Items#
Pokécube adds hundreds of items ranging from capture devices to advanced survival tools.
Pokécubes
These are used to capture Pokémobs. Higher-tier cubes have better catch rates.
- Pokécube: Standard capture device.
- Great Cube: Enhanced catch rate.
- Ultra Cube: High catch rate.
- Master Cube: 100% success rate.
- Snag Cube: Can capture Pokémobs already owned by other trainers.
Essential Tools
- Pokéwatch: The primary interface for the mod. It provides a Pokédex, trainer stats, local spawn info, and guides.
- Pokedex: A handheld device to scan Pokémobs and view their data.
- Location Linker: Used to link Pokémobs to specific blocks (like the Energy Siphon) or set home locations.
Consumables and Enhancements
- Revive: Restores a fainted Pokémob. Crafted by brewing Oran Berries into water bottles.
- Rare Candy: Instantly levels up a Pokémob.
- Mega Stones: Required for Mega Evolution.
- Z-Crystals: Enables powerful Z-Moves.
- Mints: Used to change a Pokémob's Nature.

Blocks & Machines#
Advanced machinery allows players to manage their Pokémobs and manipulate their biology.
Core Infrastructure
- Pokecenter: A block that heals all Pokémobs in the player's inventory when right-clicked.
- PC: Provides access to the Pokémob storage system. Captured mobs beyond the party limit (6) are automatically sent here.
- TM Machine: Allows players to create TMs (Technical Machines) to teach Pokémobs new moves.
Genetics and Cloning
- Energy Siphon: Powers genetics machines. It draws energy from nearby Electric-type Pokémobs.
- Gene Extractor: Extracts DNA from Pokémobs or fossils into water bottles.
- Gene Splicer: Combines DNA from two sources into a single entity or egg.
- Cloning Chamber: Uses extracted DNA and an egg to create a new Pokémob with specific traits.
Utility Blocks
- Warp Pad: A teleportation system that can be linked to other pads using the Location Linker.
- Ability Field Amplifier (AFA): Broadcasts a Pokémob's ability (e.g., Drought, Intimidate) over a large area.
- Daycare Block: Facilitates breeding when two compatible Pokémobs are placed nearby.
Mechanics#
Capturing
To capture a Pokémob, throw a Pokécube at it. Success is determined by the mob's remaining HP, status effects (Sleep and Paralysis help), and the type of cube used. If successful, the mob is tamed; if it fails, the cube may break or be retrievable.
Training and Evolution
Pokémobs gain experience by defeating other mobs (including vanilla mobs like Zombies). Upon reaching certain levels, they may evolve. Some evolutions require specific conditions:
- Evolution Stones: Using a Fire Stone on Eevee to get Flareon.
- Trading: Some mobs evolve when traded between players.
- Happiness: High friendship levels triggered by walking or winning battles.
- Time/Location: Evolving only at night or in specific biomes.
Breeding
Placing two compatible Pokémobs (same Egg Group, opposite genders) near a Daycare Block will eventually produce an Egg. Eggs must be carried or placed in a warm area to hatch. The offspring inherits IVs and moves from its parents.
Genetics System
Players can use the Gene Selector Book (a signed book with specific gene names) in the Gene Extractor to target specific traits like 'Shiny', 'Size', or 'Nature'. This DNA can then be spliced into other mobs to create 'perfect' specimens.
Combat#
Combat in Pokécube is real-time. When a Pokémob is sent out, it will automatically defend its owner or attack a designated target.
Move Management
Players can cycle through a Pokémob's four active moves using the arrow keys (default) and trigger them with a specific keybind. Moves have types (Fire, Water, etc.) and categories (Physical, Special, Status).
Advanced Combat Forms
- Mega Evolution: Requires a Mega Ring and the corresponding Mega Stone. It provides a massive stat boost for the duration of the battle.
- Z-Moves: Ultra-powerful moves that can be used once per battle if the Pokémob holds a Z-Crystal.
- Dynamax/Gigantamax: Triggered using a Wishing Piece or Gigant Shard. The Pokémob grows to a massive size, gains increased HP, and uses Max Moves.
World & Dimensions#
Ultra Space
Accessible via Wormholes or the Ultra Dimensional Key, Ultra Space is a dangerous dimension with alien biomes:
- Deep Mushroom Caves: Home to Nihilego.
- Temporal Jungle: Floating islands where Buzzwole spawns.
- Crystallized Desert: Contains Cosmic Ore used for advanced crafting.
Structures
- Gyms: Large buildings found in villages containing NPC trainers and a Gym Leader.
- Legendary Temples: Massive structures like the Sky Pillar (Rayquaza) or Ruins of Regi that house legendary Pokémobs.
- Villain Lairs: Bases for Team Rocket or Team Galactic, filled with hostile trainers and loot.
- Raids: Dynamax Pokémobs can appear in Max Raid Dens (large stone wells), requiring multiple players or Pokémobs to defeat.
