Fakename Mod lets you change your in-game display name to something else. It is a fun way to prank your friends by making them think a famous player has joined the server. The new name shows up in chat, in death messages, and above your head. This name change is not permanent and only works on the specific world or server you are playing on. For it to work, the server must also have the mod installed.

Fakename Mod

Features:

  • Change your in-game display name to anything you want.
  • The fake name appears in the chat, on death messages, and as the nameplate above your character.
  • Name changes are temporary and only apply to the current world or server.
  • Supports color codes and spaces to customize your fake name.
  • Works on servers as long as the mod is installed on the server side.

Commands:

  • /fakename set [player] <fakename> – Gives a player a new display name.
  • /fakename clear [player] – Removes a player’s fake name and restores the original.
  • /fakename real <fakename> – Shows the original username of a player using a fake name.
  • The mod also has shorter aliases like /fn and /fname.

How to Use:

  1. To set a new name for yourself or another player, type /fakename set [player] <fakename>. If you leave out the player’s name, it will change your own.
  2. You can add colors to your name by using an ampersand (&) followed by a formatting code (e.g., &6Notch for a gold name).
  3. To use spaces in a name, you must put the entire name in quotes (e.g., "My Cool Name"). This is also required if you use color codes in newer versions.
  4. To remove a fake name, use the command /fakename clear [player]. This will change it back to the player’s real username.
  5. To find out a player’s real username, type /fakename real <fakename>. You do not need to be an operator to use this command.
