Overview#
Reliquary (often referred to as Reliquary Reincarnations in modern versions) is a classic magic mod that focuses on rewarding players for hunting Minecraft's native creatures. By collecting rare drops from hostile and passive mobs, players can craft a wide array of magical items and blocks that provide utility, combat advantages, and automation.
Key features include:
- Magical Artifacts: Items that grant flight, teleportation, and damage absorption.
- Alkahestry: A system for duplicating rare materials like Diamonds and Nether Stars.
- Apothecary: A custom brewing system for creating multi-effect potions.
- Hunter's Handgun: A modular ranged weapon with specialized ammunition types.
- Functional Blocks: Tools for crop growth, mob repulsion, and automated item handling.
Mob Drops & Ingredients#
Reliquary adds unique drops to vanilla mobs. These serve as the primary reagents for almost every recipe in the mod. Using a weapon with the Severing enchantment or the Magicbane dagger significantly increases the drop rates.
| Mob | Drop Item | Primary Use |
|---|---|---|
| Zombie / Husk | Zombie Heart | Mob Charms, Cross of Mercy |
| Skeleton / Stray | Rib Bone | Fertile Essence, Infernal Claw |
| Creeper | Catalyzing Gland | Explosives, Fertile Essence |
| Enderman | Nebulous Heart | Ender Staff, Twilight Cloak |
| Slime | Slime Pearl | Void Tear, Fertile Essence |
| Bat | Bat Wing | Rending Gale, Angelic Feather |
| Blaze | Molten Core | Infernal Claw, Handgun Parts |
| Wither Skeleton | Withered Rib | Cross of Mercy, Witherless Rose |
| Spider / Cave Spider | Chelicerae | Serpent Staff, Mob Charms |
| Snow Golem | Frozen Core | Ice Magus Rod |
| Squid | Squid Beak | Kraken Shell |
| Charged Creeper | Eye of the Storm | Storm Shot, High-tier artifacts |
| Witch | Witch Hat | Tome of Alkahestry |
Functional Blocks#
Interdiction Torch
A specialized torch that creates a protective field, physically pushing away hostile mobs within a 5-block radius. It is essential for protecting bases or keeping creepers away from delicate structures.
Lilypad of Fertility
When placed on water, this block significantly accelerates the growth of nearby crops and saplings in a 7x7 area. Its effects are cumulative, meaning multiple lilypads placed together will result in near-instant growth.
Altar of Light
This block generates Glowstone blocks passively. It must be placed in direct sunlight and "fed" Redstone (3 pieces by default). Over time, it converts the Redstone into a Glowstone block.
Pedestal
A versatile automation block. While it can be used for display, placing specific Reliquary items on it activates automated behaviors:
- Coin of Fortune: Automatically picks up items and XP orbs in range.
- Hero's Medallion: Stores XP from the world into the medallion.
- Sword: Automatically attacks nearby hostile mobs.
- Bucket: Milks cows or picks up nearby liquids.
- Rending Gale: Grants creative-style flight to players in range.
- Harvest Rod: Automatically harvests and replants crops.
Magical Artifacts#
Reliquary's artifacts are divided into active tools and passive charms.
Active Tools
- Coin of Fortune: A powerful magnet that teleports items and XP directly to the player's inventory. Can be toggled on/off.
- Sojourner's Staff: Stores multiple stacks of torches and allows the player to place them at a distance (up to 32 blocks).
- Lantern of Paranoia: Automatically consumes torches from the inventory to light up dark areas around the player as they walk.
- Ender Staff: Allows for short-range teleportation. It consumes Ender Pearls or uses charge from a Void Tear.
- Rending Gale: A staff that allows the player to fly or push/pull mobs. It uses Feathers as fuel.
- Destruction Catalyst: Rapidly breaks blocks in a 3x3 area at the cost of Gunpowder.
Survival Artifacts
- Phoenix Down: Prevents death once, consuming itself to restore the player to full health with temporary buffs.
- Angelheart Vial: A lesser version of the Phoenix Down that restores a small amount of health upon a fatal blow.
- Witherless Rose: While in the inventory, it grants complete immunity to the Wither effect.
- Infernal Claw: Absorbs fire damage, converting the damage into hunger loss instead of health loss.
- Kraken Shell: Allows the player to breathe underwater by consuming hunger instead of air.
The Hunter's Handgun#
The Hunter's Handgun is a high-tier ranged weapon crafted from three parts: the Barrel, the Hammer, and the Grip. It requires Magazines to fire, which are loaded by holding right-click.
Magazine Types
- Iron Magazine: Holds 8 rounds.
- Gold Magazine: Holds 16 rounds.
- Steel Magazine: Holds 16 rounds with higher durability.
Ammunition Types
| Bullet Type | Effect |
|---|---|
| Neutral | Standard high damage. |
| Exorcism | Deals massive bonus damage to Undead mobs. |
| Blaze | Sets targets on fire and pierces through enemies. |
| Concussive | Creates a small explosion on impact. |
| Buster | Creates a large, destructive explosion. |
| Seeker | Automatically homes in on the nearest target. |
| Sand | Blinds the target and can stop rain. |
| Storm | Increases damage during rain; can turn Creepers into Charged Creepers. |
| Ender | An upgraded Seeker shot that pierces multiple targets. |
Tome of Alkahestry#
The Tome of Alkahestry is the mod's duplication engine. It must be charged by "feeding" it Redstone (1 charge) or Glowstone (4 charges).
Duplication Mechanics: By placing the Tome in a crafting grid with a reagent and a target item, you can produce more of that item. The Tome is never consumed.
- Common Duplications: Dirt, Cobblestone, Gravel, and Sand can be duplicated in large quantities for very low charge.
- Rare Duplications: Iron, Gold, and Diamonds require significantly more charge.
- Nether Star: Can be duplicated, but typically consumes the maximum charge of a standard Tome (256 charges).
Apothecary Potion System#
Reliquary replaces the standard brewing stand with a more complex, chemistry-based system using the Apothecary Mortar and Apothecary Cauldron.
- Mortar and Pestle: Used to grind ingredients (like Potatoes, Ghast Tears, or Mob Drops) into Potion Essences. You can combine multiple ingredients to create multi-effect essences.
- Cauldron: Fill with water and heat (place over fire/magma). Add your essences, then add Redstone (for duration) or Glowstone (for potency).
- Finalization: Add Nether Wart to the cauldron to finalize the brew. Once finished, use glass bottles or Vials to collect the potion.
This system allows for "Condensed Potions" which can have up to 8 different effects in a single bottle and can reach Potency levels (like Strength V) unattainable in vanilla Minecraft.
Mob Charms (Nian Zhus)#
Mob Charms are items that, when held in the inventory or a Charm Belt, cause specific mob types to become neutral toward the player.
- Crafting: Requires 6 Charm Fragments (obtained as rare drops or crafted from the mob's unique Reliquary drop), Leather, and String.
- Types: There are charms for Creepers, Zombies, Skeletons, Spiders, Blazes, and more.
- Durability: Charms have durability that depletes slowly while they are active. They can be repaired using the appropriate mob drop.
