Overview#
Thaumic Augmentation is a comprehensive addon for Thaumcraft 6 that expands the late-game experience with new dimensions, energy systems, and powerful magical tools. It focuses on the 'Eldritch' side of Thaumaturgy, bringing back beloved features from previous versions of Thaumcraft while introducing entirely new mechanics like Impetus and Gauntlet Augmentation.
All content is accessed through the Thaumic Augmentation tab in the Thaumonomicon, which appears after completing the 'First Steps' research. For players who wish to unlock all research immediately, the following command can be used:
/tc research <username> all
The Emptiness Dimension#
The Emptiness is a void-like dimension that serves as the primary setting for the mod's late-game content. It is a dark, fractured realm where the laws of reality are thin.
Accessing the Dimension
To enter the Emptiness, a Thaumaturge must find or create a Dimensional Fracture. These fractures appear naturally in the world or can be opened using a Casting Gauntlet equipped with an Impetus Conductor augment. Stepping into a stabilized fracture will transport the player to the Emptiness.
Biomes

The Eldritch Spire
The Eldritch Spire is a massive, multi-floored dungeon found within the Emptiness (except in Taint biomes). It consists of four distinct sections, each requiring a specific key or puzzle solution to progress. At the summit, players must face a powerful boss to unlock the final secrets of the mod.
Impetus System#
Impetus is a new form of energy derived directly from Flux Rifts. It is more volatile than Vis and is used to power advanced machinery and weapons.
Energy States
- Low Charge: Safe to handle; used for basic rift manipulation and gauntlet charging.
- High Charge: Transmitted between machines via beams. High-charge beams will damage any entity that passes through them.

Gauntlet Augmentation#
The mod introduces a modular upgrade system for Casting Gauntlets. Only the Thaumium Caster's Gauntlet and Voidseer's Caster's Gauntlet can be augmented.
Augment Types

Mobs and Entities#
The Emptiness and the Eldritch Spire are home to several dangerous entities.
Bosses
- Eldritch Construct: A massive, two-stage boss found at the top of the Spire. It has 400 HP and high physical resistance. In its second stage, it reveals an Eldritch Eye and gains rapid health regeneration.
- Eldritch Warden: A returning boss from previous Thaumcraft versions, tweaked for 1.12.2. It utilizes powerful area-of-effect magic and projectiles.

Blocks#
Warded Arcana
Warded blocks are nearly indestructible and can only be broken by the player who placed them. They are ideal for base security.
- Warded Stone & Glass: High blast resistance; comes in all 16 colors.
- Arcane Door & Trapdoor: Only opens for the owner or those holding a valid Key.
- Arcane Pressure Plate & Button: Only triggers for the owner.
Functional Blocks
- Celestial Observer: An automated telescope that scans the sky for research notes when provided with paper.
- Flux Inducer: Uses Vitium essentia to artificially grow Flux Rifts.
- Stability Field Generator: Uses RF power to stabilize Flux Rifts without the need for stabilizers.
- Starfield Glass: Decorative glass that displays the skybox of the Emptiness or the interior of a rift.
Items and Tools#
Weapons and Armor
- Impulse Cannon: A heavy weapon powered by Impetus. It features three modes: Ray (continuous beam), Burst (rapid fire), and Railgun (high-damage piercing shot).
- Robes of the Adept: Upgraded Thaumaturge robes providing superior Vis discounts and protection.
- Boots of the Riftstrider: Allows the player to walk on air for a short duration after jumping from a height.
- Voidseer's Pearl: A powerful artifact that increases the player's Warp but provides significant buffs to magical potency.
Utility Items
- Seal Copier: Allows Golemancers to copy settings between different seals instantly.
- Secure Seal: An upgraded Guard Seal that allows golems to attack any non-whitelisted entity.
- Glass Essentia Tubes: Transparent tubes that allow players to see the type and amount of Essentia flowing through them.
Mechanics and Research#
Rift Management
Thaumic Augmentation provides tools to master Flux Rifts rather than simply fearing them. Using the Extradimensional Monitor, players can track a rift's size and stability. The Metaspatial Extruder can be used to release a stored rift back into the world at a chosen location.
Research Progression
Progression is strictly tied to the Thaumonomicon. Key milestones include:
- Scanning Void Stone: Unlocks Eldritch Stone manufacturing.
- Witnessing Unstable Infusion: Unlocks the Infusion Stabilizer.
- Defeating the Spire Boss: Unlocks the highest tier of Impetus machinery and the Arcane Terraformer.
Configuration#
The mod includes a robust configuration file (thaumicaugmentation.cfg) allowing server owners to adjust:
- Rift Generation: Frequency and maximum size of natural fractures.
- Dimension IDs: Customizable IDs for the Emptiness to avoid conflicts.
- Warded Blocks: Toggle whether OPs can bypass warding protections.
- Impetus Damage: Adjust the damage dealt by high-charge Impetus beams.
