Overview#
Wizard's Animals Mod is a comprehensive wildlife expansion that introduces over 80 (and up to 200+ in later versions) real-life animal species to the Minecraft world. The mod focuses on realism, providing high-quality models and textures that blend seamlessly with the Minecraft aesthetic while offering a rich, diverse fauna for players to discover, collect, and breed.
Key features include a complex breeding system involving sexual dimorphism, a unique aquarium and terrarium building mechanic for small creatures, and specialized tools for animal interaction. The mod is designed to be lightweight and compatible with other major mob mods like Alex's Mobs or Mo' Creatures.

Mechanics#
Breeding System
The mod uses a realistic breeding system for many species.
- Sexual Dimorphism: Many animals have distinct Male and Female models. Use the Magnifying Glasses to identify the sex of an animal.
- Breeding Process: To breed, ensure a Male is within 2 blocks of a Female. Right-click the Female with the appropriate Breeding Item.
- Egg Laying: Reptiles and Birds will lay an egg entity. Right-click the egg with bare hands to pick it up as an item, then place it in a safe location to hatch (usually takes 5-10 minutes).
Taming
Only a few animals can be tamed, primarily the "Big Cats" (Lions, Tigers, Jaguars) and domestic pets like Dogs and Guinea Pigs.
- Big Cats: You must find or breed a Baby version. Right-click the cub with Cooked Salmon (Jaguar), Raw Mutton (Lion), or Raw Porkchops (Tiger) to tame it.
- Domestic Pets: Guinea Pigs and certain Dog breeds can be tamed with standard food items like carrots or bones.
Aquarium & Terrarium Building
Players can create custom displays for small animals like insects, frogs, and small lizards.
- Base: Place a Display Base block.
- Environment: Place a block of Grass, Sand, or Water on top of the base.
- Glass: Surround the environment block with Small Display Glass (C, L, I, or H variants).
- Top: Place a Small Display Top or a Trapdoor on top.
- Rotation: Use the Pet Tool on the glass pieces to rotate them and connect the display properly.
- Capture: Use the Animal Net to right-click a small creature, then right-click inside the display to release it.
