Overview#

Atmosmobs (v1.3.2b for Minecraft) is a comprehensive creature mod created by Daveyx0. It aims to populate the Minecraft world with a diverse array of animals that enhance the game's atmosphere without breaking the vanilla aesthetic. The mod adds 42 unique mobs, ranging from tiny insects and colorful birds to massive whales and mythical phoenixes. Beyond just visuals, Atmosmobs introduces complex behaviors, taming systems, and interactive utility entities like bird cages and beehives.

Mechanics#

Taming Systems

Each mob type has a unique taming method:

  • Land Creatures: Most mammals (like Mice or Foxes) are tamed by feeding them their preferred food (Seeds for mice, Raw Meat for foxes) until hearts appear.
  • Birds: Tamed by hatching them from eggs or using specific seeds. Tamed Owls provide a night vision effect, and Parrots mimic nearby mob sounds.
  • Fish: Must be caught using a Fish Net. Once caught, they can be released into a player-made pond where they will remain tamed.
  • Seals: Tamed using Dead Blowfish. Once tamed, they can be ridden in water.

Breeding

Most land creatures will breed automatically if they are in close proximity and have been fed. They do not require player intervention once tamed and well-fed.

Special Behaviors

  • Chameleons: Their skin texture dynamically updates to match the block directly beneath them.
  • Moths: At night, moths will swarm around any active light source (Torches, Glowstone).
  • Vultures: They circle dying mobs and will occasionally drop a Skeleton Head block if they stay in an area long enough.

Key Settings:

  • Mob Toggles: Every single mob can be enabled or disabled individually by changing true to false.
  • Item IDs: If you have conflicts with other mods, you can manually reassign the Item IDs here.
  • Spawn Rates: While basic rates are in the config, it is highly recommended to use Mob Spawn Control for fine-tuned adjustments.
  • Old World Spawns: A toggle to allow mobs to spawn in worlds generated in Alpha or Beta versions of Minecraft.
