Overview#
Croptopia is the definitive farming mod for Minecraft, designed to overhaul the agricultural experience by introducing a vast array of real-world crops, fruit-bearing trees, and a deep culinary system. Unlike vanilla farming, Croptopia encourages exploration, as different crops and trees are native to specific biomes. The mod also introduces specialized cooking utensils and a multi-step ingredient system, allowing players to craft everything from simple juices to complex multi-course meals.
Key Features
- 58 Ground Crops: A diverse selection of vegetables, grains, and herbs.
- 26 Tree Crops: Fruit-bearing trees that grow in various biomes.
- 250+ Food Items: A massive library of edible items including meals, snacks, and drinks.
- Right-Click Harvesting: Fully grown crops and fruit trees can be harvested without breaking the plant.
- Culinary Tools: Specialized utensils like the Frying Pan and Food Press for advanced recipes.
Getting Started#
To begin your journey in Croptopia, you must first gather seeds and essential ingredients like salt.
Obtaining Seeds
In modern versions (1.18+), crops can be found growing naturally in the wild. You can collect them by right-clicking the mature plant. In older versions, seeds are obtained by breaking tall grass in specific biomes.
The Croptopia Guide Book
If the Patchouli mod is installed, you can craft the Croptopia Guide to view all recipes in-game.
- Recipe: 1x Vanilla Book + 3x Any Croptopia Crop/Seed.

Salt and Water
Salt is a fundamental ingredient for many recipes. It can be obtained in two ways:
- Mining: Salt Ore spawns in river and ocean biomes, appearing in clusters similar to clay or gravel. Mining it with a shovel yields salt.
- Smelting: Craft a Croptopia Water Bottle (1x Water Bucket + 3x Glass Bottles) and smelt it in a furnace to produce Salt.

Ground Crops#
Ground crops are found in various biomes across the Overworld. They can be planted on tilled soil (farmland) and harvested by right-clicking once fully grown.
| Biome Category | Crops Found |
|---|---|
| Plains | Barley, Bell Pepper, Broccoli, Cabbage, Corn, Cucumber, Green Bean, Kiwi, Lettuce, Mustard, Oat, Soybean, Strawberry |
| Swamp | Artichoke, Asparagus, Cranberry, Currant, Rhubarb, Wild Rice |
| Forest | Blackberry, Blueberry, Cantaloupe, Cauliflower, Celery, Garlic, Grape, Honeydew, Raspberry, Tomato, Zucchini |
| Jungle | Basil, Coffee, Ginger, Green Onion, Peanut, Pineapple, Rice, Tea, Tomatillo, Turmeric, Vanilla |
| Savanna | Chili Pepper, Hops, Okra, Sesame, Turmeric |

Tree Crops#
Fruit trees generate naturally in the world. You can harvest their fruit by right-clicking the leaf blocks when they show visible fruit.
Fruit Tree List
- Orchard Trees: Apple, Apricot, Cherry, Nectarine, Peach, Pear, Plum.
- Nut Trees: Almond, Cashew, Nutmeg, Pecan, Walnut.
- Tropical Trees: Banana, Coconut, Dragonfruit, Mango, Starfruit.
- Citrus Trees: Grapefruit, Kumquat, Lemon, Lime, Orange.

Growing Your Own Trees
To grow a specific fruit tree, you must craft a Fruit Sapling.
- Recipe: 1x Vanilla Sapling (Oak/Birch/etc.) + 2x Desired Fruit.
- Cinnamon: Cinnamon is obtained by stripping the bark of a Cinnamon Tree (found in Jungles) using an axe.

Ingredients and Mechanics#
Many recipes require intermediate ingredients that must be prepared beforehand.
- Flour: Crafted by grinding Wheat, Barley, or Oats in a Mortar and Pestle.
- Dough: Combine Flour with Water or Milk in a Mixing Bowl.
- Butter: Made by processing Milk in a Food Press or Cooking Pot with Salt.

With over 250 foods, items are generally categorized by their preparation method and hunger restoration.
Beverages
