Overview#
Hearths is a world-generation addition that fills the Nether with new structures and natural decorations, giving the dimension far more to find and explore. It scatters brand-new landmarks and ambient features across the Nether's biomes so travelling through it feels like a real journey with places to discover. Because it is data-driven world generation, its content appears automatically in newly generated Nether chunks - you do not have to craft or set anything up.
Nether Structures#
The centerpiece features are its towers and spirals, which generate as small dungeon-like builds you can climb and explore:
Crimson Tower
Found in the Crimson Forest, a tall spire built from nether bricks and crimson-themed blocks, with a latticed, multi-floor design and interior hazards and loot such as blaze rooms and hidden chests.
Warped Tower
The Warped Forest counterpart, built in teal warped materials with the same tall multi-floor tower design.
Netherrack Spiral
Out in the Nether Wastes you also come across netherrack spiral structures that add variety to the open terrain.
The towers double as points of interest and as small challenges when you drop into them looking for loot.
Natural Decorations#
Alongside the structures, Hearths adds a lot of ambient world generation that makes the Nether landscape richer and more varied:
- Towering netherrack and blackstone pillars rising from the terrain.
- Clusters of tall crimson and warped fungi.
- Patches of nether rock and blackstone.
- Small lakes of lava, magma, and netherrack, plus scattered fire.
These touches blend in with the vanilla Nether so the new content feels like a natural extension of the dimension rather than something bolted on.
Tips#
- Explore freshly generated Nether chunks - the structures and decorations only appear in new terrain, so wander away from areas you have already visited.
- Check each tower's interior for blaze rooms and hidden chests, but be ready for the hazards inside.
- Look for the crimson towers in Crimson Forests and the warped towers in Warped Forests.
Installation & FAQ#
This release is available in two forms:
- Mod (.jar) - a self-loading version for both Fabric and NeoForge. Place the jar in your mods folder and its structures generate in every world.
- Data Pack (.zip) - drop the zip into a single world's datapacks folder to enable the new Nether generation only there.
Does it need any other mods? No - it is self-contained. Will it change my existing Nether? New content only appears in newly generated chunks, so explore outward to find it. Is it safe to add to an existing world? Yes; it only adds world generation.
