Overview#

The Extra Golems Mod expands the vanilla golem system by introducing a massive variety of craftable protectors. Instead of being limited to Iron and Snow Golems, players can now utilize almost any block in the game—from wood and glass to diamond and netherite—to create loyal guardians. Each golem possesses unique attributes, such as fire resistance, teleportation, or the ability to apply potion effects, making them versatile allies for base defense and exploration.

Golem Spell Recipe

Golem Construction#

Building an Extra Golem follows the same physical logic as the vanilla Iron Golem.

  1. The Body: Place four blocks of your chosen material in a 'T' shape (one block on the ground, three across the top).
  2. The Head: Place a Golem Head (crafted with a Golem Spell) on the center top block.
  3. Activation: Once the head is placed, the structure will transform into a living golem.

Note: Some golems, like the Slimy Golem, may require specific block variants to function.

Various Golems

Mechanics & Behavior#

General Behavior

All golems created through this mod behave similarly to vanilla Iron Golems. They are naturally protective of players and villagers, attacking hostile mobs on sight.

Healing

You can heal a golem by right-clicking it with the block it was made from (e.g., use a Diamond to heal a Diamond Golem). This feature can be toggled in the configuration.

Special Interactions

  • Wool Golems: Right-click with dye to change their color.
  • Log Golems: Right-click to cycle through different wood textures (Oak, Spruce, etc.).
  • Redstone Lamp Golems: Right-click to toggle their light on or off.
  • Holiday Skins: Golems may change their appearance during certain real-world holidays (like Halloween or Christmas).

Configuration#

The mod provides a configuration file (typically found in the config folder) that allows server owners and players to customize the experience.

  • Villager Summoning: Adjust the percentage chance (default 60%) that villagers will summon an Extra Golem instead of an Iron Golem.
  • Attack Players: Toggle whether golems will retaliate if attacked by a player.
  • Healing: Enable or disable the ability to heal golems with their base material.
  • Pumpkin Requirement: Toggle whether a standard Pumpkin can be used instead of the magical Golem Head.
  • Stat Customization: Advanced users can use data packs to modify the health and attack values of every individual golem type.
