Cosmetic Armor Wiki

Cosmetic Armor lets you look the way you want while staying protected. It adds a set of cosmetic armor slots alongside your normal armor slots: the armor in your real slots still provides all its protection and enchantments, while the armor placed in the cosmetic slots is what actually shows on your character.

Want diamond protection but the look of leather? Or full enchanted gear but no helmet covering your face? Cosmetic Armor makes it possible, and you can also simply hide individual armor pieces.

1. Open the cosmetic armor screen with its keybind (see Keybinds).
2. Place the armor you want to display into the cosmetic slots. Keep your real, protective armor in your normal armor slots.
3. Close the screen - your character now shows the cosmetic look while keeping the real armor's protection.

Your defense comes from the real slots; your appearance comes from the cosmetic slots.

The mod's GUI gives you four cosmetic slots mirroring your helmet, chestplate, leggings, and boots.

• Show different armor: put any armor piece in a cosmetic slot and it overrides the visual of the matching real piece - others see the cosmetic look, you keep the real stats.
• Hide a piece: toggle a slot to hidden so that armor piece is not rendered at all (great for hiding a bulky helmet) while still wearing the real one for protection.
• Per-slot control: each of the four slots is independent, so you can mix shown, hidden, and default looks freely.

Open it whenever you want to change your look; your real armor in the standard slots is never affected.

Cosmetic Armor is opened with a keybind you can rebind in Options > Controls:

• Open Cosmetic Armor screen - brings up the cosmetic-slot GUI where you set displayed/hidden pieces.

Bind it to a convenient key so you can adjust your appearance quickly. The cosmetic loadout persists with your character.

Do cosmetic-slot items give protection? No - only the armor in your real armor slots protects you and provides enchantments. Cosmetic slots are purely visual.

The GUI won't open. Check the keybind in Options > Controls; it may be unbound or conflicting.

Can I just hide my helmet without losing protection? Yes - toggle that cosmetic slot to hidden while keeping the real helmet equipped.

Do other players see my cosmetic look? Yes - in multiplayer your displayed/hidden choices are visible to other players.
