Overview#
Lycanite's Mobs is an expansive creature-focused mod for Minecraft that populates the world with a vast array of unique, often dangerous monsters. Drawing inspiration from classic games like Doom and various mythologies, the mod introduces over 100 new entities across every biome and dimension. Beyond simple combat, the mod features deep mechanics for taming, mounting, and summoning these creatures to fight alongside you. It also includes a robust Equipment Forge system for crafting custom tools from monster parts, random world-altering Mob Events, and colossal multi-phase boss fights.
Shard TCG Integration
Lycanite's Mobs is officially integrated with Shard TCG, a Trading Card Game featuring many of the mod's creatures. Some mobs were originally designed for the card game before being implemented in Minecraft, and future updates continue to bridge the two, bringing new designs and lore from the TCG into the game world.
Core Mechanics#
Beastiary and Knowledge
The Beastiary is the central hub for managing your interactions with the mod's creatures. You can access it via a hotkey (default 'G').
- Knowledge Rank: To interact with a mob (taming or summoning), you must first gain Knowledge of it. Knowledge is gained by killing the mob, using a Soulgazer on it, or through rare items like Knowledge Scrolls.
- Rank 1: Unlocks basic information and drops.
- Rank 2: Allows the creature to be summoned as a minion using a Summoning Staff.
Taming and Soulbinding
Many creatures in the mod can be tamed to serve as pets or mounts.
- Treats: Each creature type requires a specific Treat (e.g., Avian Treat for Rocs). Feeding a treat to a wild creature increases its Loyalty. Once the loyalty bar is full, the creature is tamed.
- Soulstones: Once tamed, use a Soulstone on the creature to bind it to your soul. Soulbound pets can be summoned or dismissed at will from the Beastiary and will respawn after a short cooldown if they die.
- Mounts: Certain large creatures can be equipped with a saddle. While riding, you can use special abilities (default 'F').
Summoning System
Summoning allows you to call forth temporary minions or permanent soulbound pets.
- Summoning Staff: Uses Summoning Focus (a regenerating resource) to spawn temporary minions. The type of minion and its AI (Aggressive, Defensive, etc.) are configured in the Beastiary.
- Summoning Pedestal: A block that can be placed to automatically summon and maintain a set of minions to guard an area.
- Spirit: Soulbound pets use Spirit instead of Focus. You have a maximum of 10 Spirit points; each pet has a specific cost to remain active.

Equipment Forge#
The Equipment Forge allows players to construct custom tools and weapons using parts dropped by mobs. These tools often have unique shapes and powerful abilities.
Forge Tiers

- Greater Equipment Forge: Upgraded with an Iron Block. Handles Level 2 parts.
- Master Equipment Forge: Upgraded with a Diamond Block. Handles Level 3 parts.
Part Types
- Base: The core of the tool (e.g., Wooden Rod, Iron Rod, Ventoraptor Wing). Determines the available slots for other parts.
- Head: Attached to the base (e.g., Darkling Skull, Geonach Fist). Adds primary tool functions like mining or woodcutting.
- Blade/Pike/Axe: The business end of the weapon. Adds damage and special effects (e.g., Cinder Blade adds fire damage).
- Pommel: An optional attachment that adds passive buffs or secondary abilities.
Equipment Infuser
Used to level up individual mob parts. By placing a part and the corresponding Elemental Charges (e.g., Scorchfire Charges for fire parts) into the Infuser, you can increase the part's level, enhancing its stats and unlocking new abilities.
Bosses#
The mod features three ultimate bosses that must be summoned via complex rituals. These bosses have massive health pools and multiple combat phases.
Summoning Altars
To summon a boss, you must build a 5x5x5 structure. The core consists of a vertical pillar of Obsidian with a Soulcube in the center. Four diagonal pillars of Obsidian topped with Diamond Blocks must surround the central pillar.
