Overview#
Meet Your Fight is a combat-focused mod designed to expand Minecraft's endgame and progression. It adds four distinct bosses, each with unique mechanics, summoning rituals, and loot tables. Unlike traditional bosses that spawn naturally, these entities must be summoned using specific crafted items. The mod integrates deeply with the Curios API, providing a variety of rings, amulets, and charms that grant the player passive and active abilities.
The progression loop involves gathering vanilla materials to craft summoning items, defeating the bosses to obtain their unique drops, and using those drops to craft high-tier equipment that aids in fighting subsequent bosses or general survival.
Bosses#
The mod currently features four primary bosses. Each boss has a dedicated boss bar and unique combat phases.
Swampjaw
Swampjaw is a massive, crocodilian beast found in swampy environments. It is the first boss most players encounter due to its relatively simple summoning requirements.
- Stats: 150 Health, 6 Armor.
- Behavior: Swampjaw primarily attacks by lunging at the player and biting. In its second phase, it becomes more aggressive, performing rapid dashes and summoning Swampjaw Minions (smaller, fast-moving aquatic mobs) to distract the player.
- Summoning: Use a Soggy Folder in a Swamp or Mangrove Swamp biome.
- Drops: Swampjaw Tooth.
Bellringer
The Bellringer is a spectral, flying entity that utilizes sound and shadow to overwhelm its opponents. It is best fought in open areas where the player has room to maneuver.
- Stats: 200 Health, 10 Armor.
- Behavior: The Bellringer flies above the player, occasionally diving for melee strikes. Its primary attack involves ringing its bell, which creates a shockwave that deals AOE damage and applies the Blindness effect. It can also summon Haunted Spirits to harass the player from the air.
- Summoning: Use a Haunted Bell anywhere at night.
- Drops: Haunted Heart.
Dame Fortuna
Dame Fortuna is a luck-themed boss encountered in the Nether. Her attacks are unpredictable and based on the roll of a die.
- Stats: 250 Health, 8 Armor.
- Behavior: She attacks by throwing various playing cards at the player. Red cards deal fire damage, blue cards apply Slowness, and gold cards deal high physical damage. She occasionally teleports and releases "Luck Bombs" that explode into multiple projectiles.
- Summoning: Use a Loaded Die in the Nether.
- Drops: Fortune's Favor.
Rosethorn
Rosethorn is a powerful plant-based entity that controls the terrain of the forest. It is considered the most difficult boss in the mod.
- Stats: 300 Health, 12 Armor.
- Behavior: Rosethorn remains stationary but uses long-range vine attacks to pull the player in. It shoots volleys of thorns and can grow briar patches on the ground that slow and damage anyone standing in them. In its final phase, it releases spores that cause a lingering Poison effect.
- Summoning: Use Fertilizer in any Forest biome.
- Drops: Mossy Bone.
| Boss | Health | Armor | Summoning Item | Primary Drop |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Swampjaw | 150 | 6 | Soggy Folder | Swampjaw Tooth |
| Bellringer | 200 | 10 | Haunted Bell | Haunted Heart |
| Dame Fortuna | 250 | 8 | Loaded Die | Fortune's Favor |
| Rosethorn | 300 | 12 | Fertilizer | Mossy Bone |
Summoning Items#
Summoning items are single-use consumables. If the player is defeated during the boss fight, the item is lost, and a new one must be crafted to attempt the fight again.
| Item | Recipe | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Soggy Folder | 4x Paper + 1x Slimeball | Summons Swampjaw in Swamps. |
| Haunted Bell | 4x Gold Ingot + 1x Soul Sand | Summons Bellringer at Night. |
| Loaded Die | 4x Gold Ingot + 1x Nether Quartz | Summons Dame Fortuna in the Nether. |
| Fertilizer | 4x Bone Meal + 1x Wither Rose | Summons Rosethorn in Forests. |
Equipment & Curios#
The materials dropped by bosses can be crafted into specialized gear. Most of these items occupy Curio slots (Ring, Necklace, Charm, etc.).
Swampjaw Gear
- Dagger of the Depths: A fast melee weapon that deals bonus damage to wet mobs or mobs in water. It applies a Bleeding effect.
- Ring of the Swamp: A Curio that grants the wearer Water Breathing and significantly increases swim speed.
Bellringer Gear
- Bell of the Void: A tool that, when used, releases a sonic boom that stuns and knocks back nearby enemies.
- Specter's Eye: A Curio that allows the player to see the outlines of nearby entities through walls (Glowing effect).
Dame Fortuna Gear
- Ace of Spades: A ranged weapon that consumes cards to fire high-velocity projectiles. It has a high critical hit chance.
- Gambler's Dice: A Curio that provides a random chance to double the loot dropped by mobs, but carries a small risk of the player taking damage when a mob is killed.
Rosethorn Gear
- Briar Patch: A Curio (Charm) that acts as a permanent Thorns enchantment, reflecting a portion of melee damage back at attackers.
- Verdant Vine: A versatile tool that functions as a grappling hook, allowing for rapid traversal and pulling mobs toward the player.

Mechanics#
Summoning Process
To summon a boss, the player must hold the summoning item and right-click. The boss will appear nearby after a short delay, accompanied by a lightning strike and a boss health bar. Bosses will not despawn if the player moves away, but they will reset their health if the player dies or leaves the dimension.
Curios Integration
Meet Your Fight requires the Curios API. Most of the unique rewards from bosses are designed to be worn in Curio slots, allowing players to stack various buffs without sacrificing their armor slots. Players can access the Curio menu by clicking the small icon in their character inventory.
Configuration
The mod includes a configuration file (meetyourfight-common.toml) that allows server owners and players to adjust:
- Boss Health and Damage multipliers.
- Drop rates for unique materials.
- Cooldowns for active items like the Bell of the Void and Verdant Vine.
