Overview#
MineTogether (formerly known as CreeperHost MineTogether) is a community-focused utility mod designed to bridge the gap between single-player and multiplayer experiences. It introduces a suite of social features that allow players to communicate across different modpacks, manage friends, and host local worlds for others to join without complex network configuration.
The mod is primarily a UI and networking enhancement and does not add traditional survival content like mobs, biomes, or blocks. Instead, it focuses on providing a unified social layer for the modded Minecraft ecosystem.
Account Management#
While many features of MineTogether work out of the box, creating and linking a MineTogether account unlocks advanced functionality such as persistent friend lists, cloud saves, and higher limits for the Connect service.
Creating an Account
A MineTogether account can be created by visiting the official platform website and clicking the Login button in the top right of the page. From there, you can register using an email address or link an existing social provider.
Linking Your Minecraft Account
To link your in-game character to your MineTogether profile:
- Open Minecraft with the mod installed.
- Access the MineTogether settings or chat menu.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to authenticate your UUID with the platform. This ensures your friends can see your online status and skin across different instances.
Global Chat System#
The Global Chat system is the heart of the mod, allowing players to talk to others regardless of what server or modpack they are currently playing.
Chat Features
- Cross-Modpack Communication: Chat with players in different modpacks or single-player worlds.
- Tabbed Interface: The chat window includes tabs for different channels, including Global, Local (server-specific), and Private Messages.
- Moderation: The global chat is actively moderated to ensure a safe environment. Players can report or block users directly from the UI.
- Rich Media: Supports image link previews and formatted text.
- Pack Identification: Players playing the same modpack often have their names highlighted in specific colors (e.g., purple) to help find community members.
Friends and Social Features#
MineTogether replaces the standard social interactions with a more robust friend system that persists across all modded instances.
Friend List
Players can access a dedicated Friend List UI from the main menu or the multiplayer screen. This list shows:
- Online Status: Whether a friend is currently in-game.
- Current Activity: Which modpack or server the friend is playing on.
- Direct Messaging: The ability to send private messages that follow the player across servers.
Adding Friends
Friends can be added by clicking on a player's name in the Global Chat or by searching for their MineTogether username in the social menu.
Multiplayer Connectivity (Connect)#
The Connect feature (formerly "Open to Friends") is a powerful tool that simplifies hosting a local world for friends. It removes the need for port forwarding or sharing public IP addresses.
How Connect Works
When a player selects "Open to Friends" from the pause menu, MineTogether creates a secure proxy connection. This allows invited friends to see the world in their Multiplayer server list and join directly.
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| NAT Traversal | Bypasses the need for manual router configuration or port forwarding. |
| IP Privacy | Friends connect through a relay, keeping the host's home IP address hidden. |
| DDoS Protection | Relay infrastructure provides a layer of security against network attacks. |
| Modded Support | Specifically designed to handle the complexities of modded data syncing. |
Server Browser and Discovery#
MineTogether enhances the standard Multiplayer menu with an integrated server browser that helps players find new communities.
Discovery Features
- Public Server List: A curated list of servers that are compatible with the current modpack being played.
- Featured Servers: Promoted communities and official partner servers.
- Server Metrics: By holding Ctrl + Tab, players can view real-time performance metrics for the server they are on, including TPS (Ticks Per Second) and entity counts.
- In-Game Ordering: Modpack authors can include a button for players to easily rent a server pre-configured for that specific pack.
Commands#
MineTogether includes several administrative and utility commands to manage social features and server performance.
| Command | Description |

/chpregen |
Initiates the World Pre-generation tool. This generates chunks in advance to reduce lag during exploration. |
/invite <player> |

/friend <add/remove/list> |
