Overview#
NeoTech is a comprehensive technical mod designed to modernize resource processing and automation. Unlike traditional tech mods that rely on fixed tiers of machines, NeoTech utilizes a Modular Motherboard System, allowing players to customize every aspect of a machine's performance, from its energy capacity to its processing speed.
The mod focuses on a streamlined experience, featuring a unified pipe system that can transport items, fluids, and Redstone Flux (RF) through the same network. It also introduces unique early-game mechanics like the manual Grinder and advanced utility blocks like Phantom Glass and Flushable Chests.

World Generation and Resources#
NeoTech adds several essential ores to the world generation to support its technological progression. These ores are typically found in the Overworld and are required for crafting machine frames, motherboards, and expansion cards.
Ores and Materials
| Ore | Harvest Level | Common Uses |
|---|---|---|
| Copper | Stone | Basic wiring, machine frames, and Bronze alloy. |
| Tin | Stone | Basic machine components and Bronze alloy. |
| Lead | Iron | Energy storage components and heavy machinery. |
| Silver | Iron | Advanced circuitry and high-tier upgrades. |
Alloys
By combining metals in the Alloyer, players can create specialized materials:
- Bronze: Created from Copper and Tin; used for early-game tools and machines.
- Steel: Created from Iron and Coal; essential for advanced machine frames.
Early-Game Ore Processing: The Grinder#
Before players have access to electricity, the Grinder provides a manual way to double ore yields.
Mechanics
- Place the Grinder block.
- Place any vanilla Pressure Plate on top of the Grinder.
- Insert an ore into the Grinder's internal inventory.
- Jump on the pressure plate to progress the grinding process.
Efficiency by Plate Type
| Pressure Plate | Progress per Jump |
|---|---|
| Wooden | 10% |
| Stone | 13.33% |
| Iron (Weighted Heavy) | 20% |
| Gold (Weighted Light) | 25% |
The Motherboard System#
The core of NeoTech's machine logic is the Motherboard. Every electric machine requires a motherboard to function. Once installed, the motherboard can be fitted with Expansion Cards to enhance the machine.
Expansion Cards
Players can mix and match these cards to specialize their machines:
- Speed (Redstone): Increases the processing speed of the machine but increases RF consumption per tick.
- Efficiency (Lapis): Reduces the RF cost per operation.
- Capacity (Gold): Increases the internal RF buffer of the machine, allowing it to stay powered during energy spikes.
- I/O (Iron): Increases the number of items or amount of fluid the machine can process in a single tick.

Machines and Processing#
NeoTech features a variety of machines for power generation, resource refinement, and fluid management.
Power Generation
- Furnace Generator: Consumes solid fuels (Coal, Wood) to produce RF.
- Fluid Generator: Consumes liquid fuels (Lava, Oil) to produce RF.
Electric Machines
| Machine | Function |
|---|---|
| Electric Furnace | Smelts items using RF power. |
| Electric Crusher | Automatically grinds ores into dust (Ore Doubling). |
| Alloyer | Combines multiple metals or materials into alloys. |
| Centrifuge | Separates fluids or complex items into their base components. |
| Crucible | Melts solid blocks and items into liquid form. |
| Solidifier | Cools liquids into solid blocks or items (e.g., Lava into Obsidian). |
Energy Storage
NeoTech provides RF Storage Cubes to store excess power. These come in four tiers:
- Basic: Low capacity.
- Advanced: Medium capacity.
- Elite: High capacity.
- Creative: Infinite energy output (available only in Creative mode).
Logistics: The Pipe Network#
NeoTech's pipe system is highly modular. Instead of having separate pipes for every resource, players use a universal Pipe and attach Interfaces to define behavior.
Interface Types
- Item Interface: Moves items between inventories. Can be set to Extract or Insert.
- Fluid Interface: Moves liquids between tanks and machines.
- Energy Interface: Transfers RF between generators, storage cubes, and machines.
Configuration
Interfaces can be configured with filters (Whitelist/Blacklist) and priority settings. Extracting interfaces can be set to always active or controlled by Redstone signals.

Tools and Equipment#
NeoTech adds a suite of Electric Tools that use RF instead of durability. These tools can be recharged in any RF-compatible charging station or storage cube.
- Electric Pickaxe: High-speed mining tool.
- Electric Shovel: Efficient for large-scale excavation.
- Electric Axe: Quickly fells trees.
- Electric Sword: High-damage combat tool.
Utility Items
- Trash Bag: A portable item that deletes any item placed inside it, useful for clearing inventory clutter while mining.
- Wrench: Used to rotate machines and configure pipe interfaces.
Miscellaneous Blocks#
NeoTech includes several utility blocks that solve common automation problems:
- Phantom Glass: A unique block that appears as solid glass but allows players to walk through it. It remains solid for other entities and items, making it perfect for hidden entrances or mob traps.
- Flushable Chest: A storage container that can be cleared instantly. When it receives a Redstone signal, all items inside are deleted.
- Machine Wall: A decorative block that matches the texture of NeoTech machines, allowing for seamless industrial builds.
