Overview#
Oh The Biomes You'll Go (BYG) is a premier world-generation mod created by AOCAWOL, Corgi Taco, and YaBoiChips. It is designed to take players on a journey through breathtaking landscapes that range from realistic forests to magical, alien-like dimensions. The mod introduces over 80 new biomes, dozens of unique wood types, and high-tier materials like Ametrine and Pendorite that surpass Netherite in utility.
Key features include:
- Over 80 Biomes: Expansive additions to the Overworld, Nether, and End.
- Unique Flora: Hundreds of new plants, flowers, and trees (except for the green tulip!).
- New Materials: Custom ores and gems for endgame gear.

Overworld Biomes#
The Overworld is transformed with a variety of climates, from freezing glaciers to tropical islands. Many biomes feature custom sky colors and ambient particles.

Nether Biomes#
The Nether is no longer just red wastes. BYG adds lush, dangerous, and frozen biomes to the hellish dimension.
- Embur Bog: A glowing orange swamp in the Nether. This is the primary source of Pendorite Ore, which often generates on the ceiling. It features Embur Gel blocks that are instantly breakable.
- Glowstone Gardens: A biome overflowing with natural Glowstone formations and colorful mushrooms.
- Subterranean Grove: A lush, green forest growing in the heat of the Nether.
- Sythian Torrid Post: A desert-like Nether biome filled with Sythian Stalks (Nether bamboo).
- Visceral Heap: A disturbing, fleshy biome made of organ-like blocks and crimson growths.
- Warped Desert: An extension of the Warped Forest theme, featuring Warped Cacti and blue sand.
End Biomes#
The End is expanded into a magical realm with floating islands and alien forests.
- Bulbis Gardens: A vibrant purple forest where Bulbis trees grow. These trees provide Bulbis Shells and wood.
- Cryptic Wastes: A dark, charred biome made of Cryptic Stone and Magma. Dangerous but rich in resources.
- Ethereal Islands: Floating islands with golden-leafed Ether trees and Lignite boulders.
- Shulkren Forest: A lush, green End forest filled with Shulkren Moss and tall trees.
- Viscal Isles: The home of Ametrine Ore. These islands are often shattered and require careful navigation.

Items and Equipment#
BYG equipment represents the pinnacle of survival gear, requiring players to venture into the Nether and End to upgrade their existing Netherite items.
Ametrine Armor
Created by combining Netherite Armor with an Ametrine Gem in a Smithing Table.
- Properties: Higher durability than Netherite and provides a speed boost to the wearer.
Pendorite Tools
Created by combining Netherite Tools with a Pendorite Ingot in a Smithing Table.
- Pendorite Ingot Recipe: 4 Pendorite Scraps + 2 Diamonds + 2 Emeraldite Shards.
- Pendorite Battleaxe: A massive weapon crafted by combining two Pendorite Axes in a Smithing Table. It deals 12 attack damage but has a slower swing speed.
Food and Plants
- Blueberries/Strawberries: Found in various forest biomes; can be eaten raw or used in recipes.
- Puffball Soup: A unique food item made from mushrooms found in the mod's biomes.
Mobs and Creatures#
While primarily a biome mod, BYG adds a few unique creatures to populate its new lands.
Pika
- Behavior: Passive
- Health: 6 HP
- Spawn: Mountainous and forest biomes.
- Drops: Seeds.
- Description: A small, adorable rodent-like creature that scurries through the undergrowth.
Penguin
- Behavior: Passive
- Health: 10 HP
- Spawn: Icy biomes and Shattered Glaciers.
- Drops: Feathers, Raw Fish.
- Description: Found in colonies near water in cold climates.
Structures and Mechanics#
BYG integrates custom structures into its biomes to reward exploration.
- Villages: Custom village variants exist for Skyris, Red Rock, and Forgotten Forest biomes, featuring architecture made from the mod's unique wood types.
- Manors: Large, rare structures like the Aspen Manor can be found in their respective forests, containing loot and challenges.
- Sub-biomes: The mod uses a sophisticated sub-biome system to create realistic transitions, such as forest clearings, riverbanks, and mountain foothills.
