AMC’s The Walking Dead is undoubtedly one of the greatest shows of all time, having completed 11 seasons and a 12-year run. While it may not be regarded as high art, it did initiate a resurgence of zombie-related content in mainstream media that lasted nearly a decade.

I’m not asserting that The Walking Dead is my preferred show, as I would not go to such extremes. However, I have curated an impressive collection of Walking Dead skins for Minecraft, and I could probably discuss them at length.

1. Rick Grimes

 

Any list I make has to begin with none other than the iconic Sheriff, Rick Grimes himself. This statement may not be relevant to other collections of skins, but I believe it should be. Rick Grimes is undoubtedly one of the most recognizable characters from 21st-century television, thanks to his rugged, post-apocalyptic appearance that’s instantly recognizable to anyone.

2. Daryl Dixon

Daryl Dixon has become an archetype of his own and is considered an icon in The Walking Dead. This is primarily due to Norman Reedus’ exceptional portrayal, which resulted in Daryl’s character being promoted to a main character in the show. Even though the skin doesn’t include Daryl’s signature crossbow and chopper, all that’s needed is a bit of mining, crafting, and pillager slaying to acquire them.

3. Clementine (Telltale Season 4)

While most people associate TWD with the television show, the uninitiated may be unaware of the quality of the Telltale game series. The character of Clementine is especially captivating, making her one of the most memorable video game characters of all time. I’m thrilled that the Minecraft community has also recognized her appeal.

4. Kenny

Kenny’s introduction in Season 3 of the Telltale game, with his trucker hat and one eye, is one of the best character studies I’ve ever witnessed. Even if you’re unfamiliar with the events of Kenny’s life in the Telltale games, who wouldn’t want to play as a one-eyed man from Florida?

5. Negan

In my opinion, no TV campaign has been more successful in building suspense than Negan’s introduction to TWD. With his baseball bat, leather jacket, and the nail-biting advertisements that kept viewers on the edge of their seats, Negan has become my favorite character in TWD.

6. Beth Greene

I’m not afraid to say it: if you don’t like Beth, then I don’t like you. Despite not being a leader among the survivors at the farm or prison, Beth’s contribution to the group cannot be overlooked. Additionally, her cool overalls only add to her appeal.

7. Jesus

In my opinion, no character in the show is funnier than Jesus. It’s not that he possesses a great sense of humor; it’s just that he happens to look like Jesus by chance, and that’s his name. Who wouldn’t want to play Minecraft as Jesus, sporting a beanie?

8. Glenn

Glenn is arguably the most likable character on The Walking Dead. With his relatable qualities, sense of humor, and exceptional bravery, he should be adored by all. Although I can’t guarantee that everyone feels this way, I can certainly express my admiration for Glenn by recommending this Minecraft skin.

9. Michonne

Although it’s been years since I last watched it, Michonne’s introduction to the show remains vivid in my memory. Her presence as a character transformed the dynamics of the show, leading to some of TWD’s most memorable character interactions, all while sporting the best hair on the show.

10. Maggie


It seems like at some point, everyone has been a superfan of Maggie. Starting as a farmhand, then becoming a romantic interest, and eventually rising to the leadership of the Hilltop, Maggie’s charisma and character development inevitably turn everyone into a Maggie stan.

11. Carl

The Walking Dead is known for their country-core apocalypse character designs, but none are quite as impressive as the later seasons’ portrayal of Carl. Featuring long hair and a recently shot-out eye, this Carl skin perfectly captures the intensity of TWD.

12. Alpha

Throughout its run, The Walking Dead has introduced a number of memorable antagonists, but none were quite as terrifying as Alpha. The introduction of The Whisperers added a new level of horror to the show, and Alpha’s psychopathic tendencies of wearing a walker face is arguably the most frightening portrayal of an antagonist the series has ever seen.

13. Abraham

In my opinion, Abraham’s contribution to the show is underrated and underappreciated. Despite his handlebar mustache and cargo pants being timeless and iconic in both the show, the comics, and even in Minecraft skins, Abraham’s character development and overall impact on the series often go unnoticed.

14. Ezekiel

The casting in TWD is undoubtedly exceptional, but Khary Payton’s portrayal of King Ezekiel seems like the perfect fit. Playing the leader of the Kingdom is no easy task, but Payton wears the wig and carries the role with ease.

15. Judith

It’s hard to imagine baby Judith growing up since she was born during the apocalypse on the show. However, by the end of season 9, we see Judith Grimes wearing Rick’s hat as a symbol of hope for what’s to come. What that hope entails for Alexandria and the survivors remain uncertain. Nevertheless, it’s exciting to have a new Minecraft skin to play as, embodying Judith’s spirit and resilience in the face of adversity.
