Kingdom Hearts is one of my cherished game series, second only to Final Fantasy. Whenever I booted up the first game on my PS2, the opening soundtrack alone would fill me with excitement. It was the ultimate crossover of Disney and Final Fantasy with an enthralling story that engrossed me. The fandom has grown and evolved over the years, and Kingdom Hearts has become an RPG franchise that’s hard to beat.

1. Sora (KH3)

Sora is the central character in the Kingdom Hearts main series, who starts his adventure on Destiny Islands alongside his companions Riku and Kairi. When a mysterious door opens one night, Riku falls prey to darkness, while Sora is bestowed with the keyblade and transported to a new world called Traverse Town. Thus begins his journey, which expands and unfolds as the story progresses.

2. Unknown/Organization XIII (KH)

This entry may seem strange, as the Unknown in the Kingdom Hearts series is actually a group of individuals. Hooded figures appear throughout the story, observing and attempting to impede Sora’s progress or further their own agenda. The true identity of each member of the Unknown is gradually revealed as the story unfolds, providing greater insight into the actions of Organization XIII.

3. Roxas (KH2)

The addition of Roxas to the plot of Kingdom Hearts was somewhat perplexing at first. Initially introduced in Kingdom Hearts 2, his role in the story was not immediately clear. However, as the story progressed, it became evident that Roxas played a significant role in the series’ intricate plot. Essentially, when Sora released his heart in Kingdom Hearts 1 to save Kairi, Roxas was born. He was then later revealed to be a member of Organization XIII.

4. Donald Duck (KH)

While most of us are familiar with Donald Duck, not everyone is aware of his role in the Kingdom Hearts series. However, his performance in the games is often frustrating for players. Despite being a skilled magician, Donald is infamous for his reluctance to use his healing magic until the last possible moment, often causing players to lose their patience and temper.

5. Goofy (KH)

Donald may have the magic, but when it comes to brawn, Goofy is the clear winner. Equipped with nothing more than a shield, Goofy fearlessly charges into battle and bashes enemies left and right. Despite being a character often seen as comic relief, Goofy’s fighting skills are nothing to scoff at. He’s a valuable asset to any team and always ready to jump into action at a moment’s notice.

6. Kairi (KH2)

Kairi was the driving force for Sora to even embark on his journey. She is also one of the pure hearts that Maleficent needs to unlock Kingdom Hearts (if you know the story, yeah it’s complex…) She did appear in KH1, but this skin is based off Kairi’s outfit in KH2. And we’re not here to start a war over which Kairi outfit is the best – so let’s also throw in links for Minecraft skins for the other two games.

7. Aqua (KH Birth By Sleep)

Aqua and Kairi are two completely different characters in the Kingdom Hearts series. While Kairi may have been seen as vulnerable, Aqua is a keyblade wielder who has experienced her fair share of hardships. She first appears in Birth By Sleep and quickly becomes a prominent character in the series. At one point, Aqua sacrifices herself and becomes trapped in the darkness, with Mickey Mouse delaying her rescue for too long. By the time he realizes his mistake and sets out to save her, Aqua is dangerously close to succumbing to the darkness.

8. Young Xehanort (KH3)

Young Xehanort, although clearly Xehanort, possesses the ability to time travel granted by his heartless, which he uses to assist in the creation of Organization XIII. It’s noteworthy that Young Xehanort hails from Destiny Islands, and his heartless retrieves him from there. However, I find it perplexing that despite involving his younger self, he was still unable to accomplish his goal.

9. Axel (KH2)

Axel is a member of Organization XIII who eventually leaves due to his strong bond with Roxas. He is the Nobody of a person named Lea and is mostly seen in Twilight Town with Roxas in both Kingdom Hearts II and 358/2 Days. One of the most iconic images of them together is when they are seen eating ice cream on the clock tower.

10. Riku (KH1)

The presented skin accurately depicts Riku’s appearance in the original Kingdom Hearts game on Destiny Islands. The designer has done an excellent job capturing his look. However, if you’re interested in exploring other Riku options, there are a few you might consider. For instance, you could try a Dark Riku skin in Minecraft. This skin mimics Riku’s appearance in KH1, during his boss battle in Hollow Bastion.
