Overview#
ToroQuest transforms the standard Minecraft village experience into a dynamic RPG world. Every village is randomly assigned to one of six distinct civilizations, becoming a province with its own name and leadership. The mod introduces a reputation system that tracks your standing within these provinces, affecting how NPCs interact with you, the prices in shops, and whether the local guards view you as a hero or a criminal.
Players can undertake quests for Village Lords, defend provinces from bandit raids, and hunt down legendary bosses to earn powerful artifacts and trophies.
Civilizations#
There are six primary civilizations in ToroQuest, each associated with an element or celestial body. A village's civilization determines the aesthetic of its guards' armor and the types of legendary items that may be found or traded there.
| Civilization | Element/Theme | Icon/Banner |
|---|---|---|
| Terra | Earth | Leaf |
| Gustaberg | Wind | Cloud |
| Lumens | Fire | Flame |
| Aquarius | Water | Drop |
| Solaris | Sun | Sun |
| Wolf | Moon | Crescent |
Reputation System#
Reputation is the core mechanic of ToroQuest. Your current standing is displayed in the bottom-right HUD when inside a province's borders. Reputation ranges from -1000 to 1000.
Reputation Ranks
| Rank | Range | Guard Behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Hero | 1000 | Will follow and protect you; best trade prices. |
| Ally | 100 to 999 | Friendly; guards assist in combat. |
| Friend | 10 to 99 | Neutral-Positive; standard interactions. |
| Drifter | -9 to 9 | Starting rank; neutral. |
| Trickster | -10 to -99 | Suspicious; guards watch you closely. |
| Enemy | -100 to -999 | Hostile; guards will attack on sight. |
| Villain | -1000 | Maximum hostility; province is dangerous. |
How to Change Reputation
- Increase: Completing quests, planting crops in the village, breeding livestock, killing hostile mobs (Zombies, Creepers, Orcs) within village limits, and donating valuable blocks (Diamond, Emerald) to the Village Lord.
- Decrease: Attacking villagers or guards, stealing crops, breaking valuable blocks placed in the village, and failing quests.

Structures#
ToroQuest adds several new structures to villages and the wilderness to support its RPG mechanics.
- Village Keep: The central hub of a province. It houses the Village Lord and serves as the primary location for obtaining quests.
- Village Shop: A specialized building where Shopkeepers reside. Prices here fluctuate based on your reputation.
- Village Barracks: A training ground for guards. You will often find multiple Guards and Sentries stationed here.
- Guard Tower: Tall structures found on the outskirts of villages, manned by Sentries who provide long-range defense.
- Orc Camp: Wilderness structures inhabited by hostile Orcs. Clearing these can improve your reputation with nearby villages.
- Bandit Camp: Small outposts where Bandits spawn. They often contain loot chests with stolen village goods.

Mobs#
The mod introduces a variety of NPCs and hostile entities, each with unique AI and roles.

- Obsidian Sword: Extremely high damage but very low durability. Found in Wolf civilization provinces.
- Sword of Pain: Deals more damage as the user's health decreases.
- Pickaxe of Greed: Increases ore drops but has a chance to damage the user.

Mechanics: Quests & Trading#
Quests
Interacting with a Village Lord opens the Quest UI. Quests typically involve:
- Farming: Planting a specific number of crops (carrots, wheat, etc.) in the village.
- Resource Gathering: Bringing a set amount of wood, stone, or wool to the Lord.
- Extermination: Killing a specific number of nearby Orcs or Bandits.

Trading
Shopkeepers in ToroQuest do not use the standard villager trade window. Instead, they have a custom UI where prices are dynamically calculated based on your reputation. At "Hero" rank, items can be up to 70% cheaper, while "Enemy" rank players will find shops refuse to trade entirely.
