Overview#
V-Tweaks is a lightweight yet powerful collection of enhancements designed to improve the core Minecraft experience. Unlike many other mods, V-Tweaks focuses on refining existing mechanics and adding new interactions rather than cluttering the game with new items or resources. Every feature is highly configurable, allowing players and modpack creators to tailor the experience to their specific needs.
The mod is divided into several categories: Block Tweaks, Item Tweaks, Entity Tweaks, Player Tweaks, and Recipe Tweaks. It is fully compatible with most other mods and is designed to be a staple in any Vanilla+ or modded environment.
Block Tweaks#
These enhancements focus on making world interaction more intuitive and efficient.
Crop Interact
Right-clicking on a mature crop with an empty hand (or any item not blacklisted) will automatically harvest the crop and replant a seed. This process also collects bonus seed drops, minus the one used for replanting. It works with standard crops like wheat, carrots, potatoes, and beetroot.
Tree Falling (ChopDown)
Breaking the bottom-most log of a tree will cause the entire tree to fall realistically. This feature includes smart tree detection to prevent accidental destruction of wooden structures and acknowledges the Lumbering enchantment.
Cake Dropping
In vanilla Minecraft, breaking a cake destroys it. With V-Tweaks, breaking an uneaten cake will drop the cake item, allowing you to reposition it freely.
Torch Lighting
Right-clicking with a torch or any ignition item (like Flint and Steel) on blocks such as furnaces, campfires, and redstone ore will ignite or activate them instantly.
Powder Snow Improvements
- Solid Powder Snow: A configurable option to make powder snow blocks solid, preventing players from falling through them.
- Particle Effects: Adds a distinct particle effect when walking on powder snow to help players distinguish it from normal snow.
Entity Tweaks#
V-Tweaks introduces new behaviors and attributes to mobs to make the world feel more alive and challenging.
Challenger Mobs
Challenger Mobs are rare, powerful versions of standard hostile mobs that spawn with special abilities and enhanced stats. They are identified by colored particle effects and custom names.
| Challenger Type | Abilities / Effects | Stats |
|---|---|---|
| Arcane | Inflicts Blindness, Withering, and Levitation on hit. | Increased Magic Resistance |
| Hungry | Inflicts Hunger II for 30 seconds on hit. | Standard |
| Resilient | High knockback resistance and health. | +100% HP, Slower Movement |
| Nitro | Explosive properties or increased speed. | High Agility |
Feather Plucking
Players can right-click a chicken with shears to pluck its feathers. This yields one feather and puts the chicken on a 5-minute cooldown. This action does not harm the chicken.
Peaceful Surface
Prevents hostile mobs from spawning above sea level (configurable) during most nights. However, on nights of a New Moon, the surface becomes dangerous again, allowing mobs to spawn as usual. Caves remain dangerous regardless of the moon phase.
Pet Enhancements
- Pet Friendly Fire: Prevents players from accidentally hurting their own tamed pets.
- Pet Armor: Allows players to apply horse armor to tamed wolves and other creatures for extra protection.
Miscellaneous Entity Tweaks
- Smaller Bees: Bees are rendered at half their original size for aesthetic purposes, though their hitboxes remain the same for easy interaction.
- Griefless Creepers: Creeper explosions can be configured to restore the terrain and blocks (including Tile Entities) after a short duration.
Item & Player Tweaks#
Enhancements focused on the player's inventory and survival mechanics.
Durability Tooltips
Hovering over any tool, weapon, or armor piece will display its exact remaining durability value in the tooltip.
Corpse Drops
Items dropped by a player upon death will never despawn, ensuring that players can always retrieve their gear regardless of how long it takes to return to the death site.
Better Feather Falling
If a player wears boots with Feather Falling IV, all fall damage is negated. Instead of the player taking damage, the durability equivalent of the damage is applied directly to the boots.
Cactus Item Protection
Items that come into contact with a cactus block are no longer destroyed, preventing accidental loss of valuable loot.
Enchantments#
V-Tweaks adds several powerful enchantments that can be found in loot chests or obtained through custom recipes.
| Enchantment | Max Level | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Imperishable | I | Prevents a tool from breaking when it reaches 1 durability. The tool becomes unusable until repaired. |
| Lumbering | I | Instantly fells an entire tree when the base block is broken. |
| Weightless | IV | Reduces fall damage significantly; Level IV provides 100% reduction (synergizes with Better Feather Falling). |
| Auto-Smelt | I | Automatically smelts mined ores into their ingot forms. |
Note: In versions 4.0.0+, these enchantments may be disabled by default or require specific configuration to enable.
Recipes & Mechanics#
V-Tweaks introduces new ways to craft and interact with items using existing vanilla blocks.
Anvil Recipes
The mod allows for custom anvil recipes via datapacks. A notable default feature is the Item Repair Tweak, which sets the repair cost of tools to a fixed 1 XP level, preventing the "Too Expensive!" mechanic.
Fluid Conversion
Items can be converted into other forms by throwing them into specific fluids.
- Concrete Solidification: Throwing Concrete Powder into water will instantly convert it into solid Concrete blocks.
Stacking Upgrades
Several items that normally have low stack sizes now stack up to 64:
- Eggs
- Snowballs
- Cakes
- Ender Pearls
- Boats and Saddles
Replanting Mechanics
- Self-Planting Saplings: Dropped saplings have a chance to plant themselves automatically before they despawn.
- Egg Hatching: Thrown eggs have a higher chance to hatch chickens, and dropped eggs may hatch on their own over time.
Commands & Configuration#
V-Tweaks is built with customizability in mind. Most features can be toggled or adjusted in the config files.
