Overview#
Enigmatic Legacy is a comprehensive magic and progression mod that expands the Minecraft endgame with ancient artifacts, mysterious accessories, and a deep risk-reward system. The mod revolves around the discovery of relics found in dungeon loot and the mastery of ethereal substances. Central to the experience is the Ring of Seven Curses, an item that drastically increases game difficulty in exchange for overwhelming power.
Progression is tracked through the in-game guidebook, The Acknowledgment, and a series of custom advancements that unlock as you discover new materials like Etherium and Astral Dust. Most items integrate with the Curios API, allowing players to equip multiple rings, amulets, and spellstones simultaneously.
Core Mechanics#
The Ring of Seven Curses
The Ring of Seven Curses is the mod's defining feature. It is typically granted to players upon their first entry into a world. Once equipped, it cannot be removed by normal means and persists through death.
The Seven Blessings
| Blessing | Effect |
|---|---|
| Enhanced Looting | Grants +1 level of Looting and Fortune passively. |
| Experience Boost | Increases experience dropped by mobs and blocks by 400%. |
| Enchantment Power | Provides +10 Enchantment Power to nearby Enchanting Tables. |
| Ender Access | Adds a dedicated button in the inventory to access Ender Chest storage. |
| Unique Drops | Enables rare, unique drops from certain vanilla mobs. |
| Relic Mastery | Allows the use of powerful relics that are otherwise unusable. |
| Fortune's Favor | Increases the quality of loot found in generated chests. |
The Seven Curses
| Curse | Effect |
|---|---|
| Fragility | The wearer takes 100% more damage (double damage) from all sources. |
| Armor Decay | All equipped armor is 30% less effective. |
| Weakness | The wearer deals 50% less damage to monsters. |
| Eternal Flame | Fire and lava damage do not extinguish over time; they must be put out with water. |
| Insomnia | The player is afflicted with incurable insomnia and cannot sleep in beds. |
| Hostility | Neutral mobs (Bees, Piglins, Iron Golems, Wolves) become hostile on sight. |
| Soul Tearing | Every death permanently reduces the player's maximum health. |
Soul Crystals
When a player wearing the Ring of Seven Curses dies, they lose a portion of their maximum health (typically one heart). A Soul Crystal is generated at the point of death.
- Recovery: To regain the lost health, the player must return to their death location and right-click the Soul Crystal.
- Tracking: The Wayfinder of the Damned can be used to locate dropped Soul Crystals.
Advanced Brewing
By using Astral Dust, players can transcend vanilla potion limits to create Ultimate Potions. These potions combine the highest possible effect level with significantly extended durations.
- Ultimate Leaping: Jump Boost II for 8 minutes.
- Ultimate Healing: Instant Health III.
- Ultimate Haste: Haste II for 13 minutes.
- Potion of Recall: A unique brew that teleports the user to their respawn point (bed or anchor).
Relics and Curios#
Relics are powerful accessories found primarily in high-level dungeon loot (End Cities, Bastions, Strongholds).
Spellstones
Spellstones are unique curios that provide both passive buffs and active abilities (triggered via a configurable keybind).
| Item | Passive Effects | Active Ability |
|---|---|---|
| Angel's Blessing | Deflects projectiles, increases flight speed. | Grants a temporary flight boost in the direction you look. |
| Will of the Ocean | Water breathing, night vision, increased swim speed. | Summons a localized storm or lightning at the cost of XP. |
| Eye of the Nebula | High resistance to magic and withering damage. | Teleports the player to a random nearby safe location. |
| Blazing Core | Complete fire/lava immunity, clear lava vision. | Sets nearby enemies on fire. |
| Heart of the Golem | Massive explosion resistance and armor bonus. | Grants temporary invulnerability but slows movement. |
| Void Pearl | Resistance to void damage; attacks apply Wither. | Launches a projectile that teleports the user on impact. |
Rings and Amulets
- Enigmatic Amulet: A starter item that comes in seven colors. Each color provides a different minor trait (e.g., +10% Lifesteal for Black, +10% Movement Speed for Red).
- Magnetic Ring: Pulls nearby items and experience orbs toward the player.
- Ring of Ender: Grants the player the reach and teleportation capabilities of an Enderman.
- Pact of Infinite Avarice: Increases emerald drops from mobs but increases the cost of villager trades.
Equipment: Etherium Tier#
Etherium is the ultimate material in Enigmatic Legacy, surpassing Netherite in durability and power. It is found as Etherium Ore within End Cities.
Etherium Armor
Etherium armor is unique because it is completely invisible when worn, allowing players to maintain their skin's appearance while being heavily protected.
- Armor Toughness: +4.0 per piece (higher than Netherite).
- Set Bonus: When all four pieces are equipped, the player gains a protective shield when health drops below 40%. This shield provides 50% damage resistance, reflects projectiles, and knocks back attackers.
Etherium Tools
- Etherium Broadsword: High damage with a sweeping attack that can bypass some armor.
- Etherium Pickaxe: Can mine any block and has a built-in AOE mining mode.
- Etherium Scythe: A powerful tool for harvesting crops in a large radius and a formidable weapon against groups of mobs.
- Axe of Executioner: While not strictly Etherium, this high-tier weapon has a 10% base chance to decapitate mobs, dropping their heads. This chance increases with the Looting enchantment.
Blocks and Materials#
Blocks
- Etherium Ore: Found in End Cities. Must be smelted into Etherium Ingots.
- Etherium Block: A decorative and storage block made from 9 ingots. It is blast-resistant and immune to fire.
- Lamps and Encased Lamps: Magical light sources that come in various colors and styles to match magical builds.
Materials
- Astral Dust: A rare powder used in Advanced Brewing and high-tier crafting. Found in dungeon chests.
- Nefarious Essence: A dark substance used to craft cursed items and the Unholy Stone.
- Lore Fragment: Used with the Architect's Inkwell to write custom names and lore onto items via an anvil.
Progression and Recipes#
The Acknowledgment
To begin your journey, craft The Acknowledgment using a Book and an Enigmatic Amulet (or find it in starter loot). This book acts as a dynamic encyclopedia. Entries are hidden until the player discovers the relevant items or completes specific advancements.
Key Recipes
- Unholy Stone: Crafted using Nefarious Essence and Obsidian. Used in the ritual to remove the Ring of Seven Curses.
- Twisted Mirror: Crafted with a Twisted Heart and Potions of Recall. Provides infinite teleports to spawn as long as the Ring of Seven Curses is equipped.
- Non-Euclidean Cube: An endgame relic crafted by combining all six primary spellstones. It grants the user mastery over space and dimensions.
Configuration and Commands#
Enigmatic Legacy features an extensive configuration system (found in the enigmaticlegacy-common.toml or .omniconf files) that allows server owners to balance the mod.
Configurable Options
- Damage Multipliers: Adjust the 2.0x damage taken and 0.5x damage dealt penalties for the Ring of Seven Curses.
