Shield Expansion Mod (1.21.1, 1.20.1) – Shields Made from Various Materials

Shield Expansion Mod focuses on enhancing one of the primary defensive tools in the game-the shield. The goal is to introduce different types of shields made from various materials, bringing dynamism and versatility to Minecraft’s combat system. Beyond just crafting shields from different materials-each offering unique defensive stats-the mod also adds two new defensive mechanics: Off-Guard Cooldown and Parrying.

Features:

Off-Guard Cooldown

• Allows players to block enemy strikes with their shield but introduces a cooldown period after blocking, preventing instant reuse. This forces players to switch to offense after defending. The cooldown time depends on the shield material-Netherite shields recover the fastest, while wooden shields take the longest.

Parrying

• Enables players to block an attack by raising the shield before impact, pushing the attacker backward.
• Parrying with wood or gold shields inflicts minor damage on the enemy.
• Parrying with iron, diamond, or Netherite shields not only causes damage but also reflects part of the incoming attack back at the enemy.
• Additionally, parrying ignores cooldown restrictions and allows players to block projectiles.
