Handheld Calculators#
Calculators are the core of the mod. They are used by right-clicking while held. In version 1.12.2, many recipes must be unlocked via the Research system before they can be used.
Calculator Tiers
| Item | Slots | Energy Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic Calculator | 2 | No | The entry-tier device. Uses simple addition logic (Item A + Item B = Item C). |
| Scientific Calculator | 2 | No | Adds a 'Division' mode which acts as a portable crafting table and internal storage. |
| Atomic Calculator | 3 | Yes (RF) | Uses three slots for complex recipes. Required for mid-game materials. |
| Flawless Calculator | 4 | Yes (RF) | The ultimate tier. Four slots allow for the most powerful item combinations. |
Special Calculators
- Research Calculator: Exclusive to 1.12.2, this is used to unlock recipes. Players must 'research' items to gain the ability to craft them in other calculators.
- Dynamic Calculator: A late-game tool that can store multiple modules (Warp, Jump, Health, Hunger) and perform various utility functions.
- Portable Dynamic Calculator: A handheld version of the Dynamic Calculator that provides mobile access to its functions.
Circuitry and Processing#
Circuits are the fundamental building blocks for all machines. They exist in 14 different types (numbered 1-14) and progress through five distinct states.
Circuit States
- Damaged/Dirty: Obtained by processing Cobblestone (Damaged) or Dirt (Dirty) in an Extraction Chamber.
- Unanalysed: Created by cleaning Damaged/Dirty circuits in a Restoration or Reassembly Chamber.
- Analysed (State B): Obtained by putting an Unanalysed circuit through an Analysing Chamber. This process also yields random bonus items.
- Stable (State A): A rare result from the Analysing Chamber. Stable circuits are required for high-tier machines and the Calculator Locator.
The Processing Loop
To obtain usable circuits, players typically follow this path:
- Extraction: Cobblestone -> Extraction Chamber -> Damaged Circuit.
- Restoration: Damaged Circuit -> Restoration Chamber -> Unanalysed Circuit.
- Analysis: Unanalysed Circuit -> Analysing Chamber -> Analysed Circuit + Bonus Items (Gems, Tools, etc.).
Machines and Automation#
Machines in the Calculator mod are used for processing materials and automating the circuit lifecycle. Most require RF/FE power and can be upgraded with Speed and Energy modules.
Primary Processing Chambers
| Machine | Function |
|---|---|
| Extraction Chamber | Extracts Damaged/Dirty circuits from Cobblestone, Dirt, or Sand. |
| Restoration Chamber | Cleans Dirty circuits into Unanalysed circuits. |
| Reassembly Chamber | Repairs Damaged circuits into Unanalysed circuits. |
| Processing Chamber | A dual-purpose machine that handles both Dirty and Damaged circuits. |
| Precision Chamber | A high-tier version of the Extraction Chamber with 100% circuit yield. |
| Analysing Chamber | Analyzes circuits to unlock their power and produce random loot. |
| Fabrication Chamber | Uses Analysed/Stable circuits to craft advanced machines and modules. |
Material Separators
- Stone Separator: Breaks down ores and stones into multiple outputs (e.g., Iron Ore -> 4 Reinforced Iron Ingots + 2 Small Stones). This is highly efficient for early-game ore doubling.
- Algorithm Separator: A more advanced version used for complex material deconstruction.
Power Generation and Storage#
The mod uses Redstone Flux (RF) and is compatible with Tesla and Forge Energy (FE).
Generators
- Hand Cranked Generator: Early game power. Players must manually right-click the Crank Handle to generate small amounts of RF.
- Solar Panels: Available in Basic, Advanced, and Flawless tiers. Flawless Solar Panels generate massive amounts of power but require expensive materials.
- Conductor Mast: A multiblock lightning rod. It generates huge bursts of energy when struck by lightning. Use a Weather Controller to trigger storms for consistent power.
- Starch/Redstone/Glowstone Extractors: Generate power by consuming specific items (Food, Redstone, or Glowstone).
Storage and Transfer
- Power Cubes: Portable and stationary energy storage. The Advanced Power Cube can also convert between RF and EU (IC2).
- Flux Controller & Flux Plugs: Used for wireless energy transfer across dimensions. This system allows for complex power grids without the need for cables.
- Calculator Locator: A massive multiblock structure that generates 'infinite' power by locating energy in the atmosphere. It requires Stable Circuits to operate safely; otherwise, it may cause lightning strikes or explosions.
The Greenhouse System#
Greenhouses are multiblock structures used for high-speed automated farming. They are essential for growing mod-specific crops like Prunae Seeds.
Tiers and Construction
- Basic Greenhouse: A 9x9 structure. It requires 18 Logs, 56 Stairs, 14 Glass, and 30 Planks. It can be built automatically by the Greenhouse Controller if the materials are provided in its GUI.
- Advanced Greenhouse: Larger (11x11) and faster than the basic version.
- Flawless Greenhouse: A customizable multiblock that can be expanded significantly. It is the fastest farming method in the mod.
Mechanics
- CO2 Levels: Greenhouses operate faster when filled with Carbon Dioxide. Players can use a CO2 Generator and fuel it with coal or 'Controlled Fuel' to boost growth rates.
- Oxygen: As plants grow, they consume CO2 and produce Oxygen. If Oxygen reaches 100%, growth speed returns to baseline. High CO2 levels (up to 100%) provide the maximum growth multiplier.
Resources and Materials#
The mod introduces several unique materials required for high-tier crafting.
Reinforced Materials
- Reinforced Stone: Created by combining Cobblestone and Planks in a Basic Calculator. It is highly blast-resistant.
- Reinforced Iron: Created from Iron and Reinforced Stone. Used for basic machinery.
- Enriched Gold: Created from Gold and Redstone. Used for advanced circuitry.
Calculator Diamonds
These are specialized gems created in the Atomic or Flawless Calculators:
- Fire Diamond: Used for heat-based machines and tools.
- Electric Diamond: Used for high-capacity energy storage and solar panels.
- End Diamond: Used for teleportation and dimension-crossing tech.
- Flawless Diamond: The highest tier material, required for Flawless-tier machines.
Tools and Modules#
Specialized Tools
- Wrench: Used to rotate machines and instantly pick them up (Shift+Right Click).
- Sickle: Clears large areas of plants and leaves. Available in various material tiers.
- Reinforced Tools: Highly durable tools that can be repaired in a Restoration Chamber.
Inventory Modules
Modules provide passive benefits when kept in the player's inventory:
- Health Module: Automatically heals the player using stored energy.
- Hunger Module: Automatically restores hunger bars.
- Nutrition Module: A combination of Health and Hunger modules.
- Warp Module: Allows the player to set a teleport point and return to it at the cost of energy.
Calculator Trees#
The mod adds several magical trees that grow resources instead of just wood.
| Tree Type | Resource Produced | Use Case |
|---|---|---|
| Amethyst Tree | Amethyst Shards | Used for Health Processors and decorative blocks. |
| Tanzanite Tree | Tanzanite Shards | Used for Hunger Processors. |
| Pear Tree | Pears / Slimeballs | Provides a source of food and slime. |
| Diamond Tree | Weakened Diamonds | A renewable (though slow) source of diamond-tier materials. |
These trees can be automated using the Greenhouse system or harvested manually. The leaves often drop the shards, while the wood can be processed into specialized planks.
