NEI Addons Mod Wiki

The NEI Addons mod, combined with Gendustry, represents the pinnacle of bee breeding and automation for Minecraft. While NEI Addons provides the essential interface for viewing complex breeding lines and environmental requirements directly within Not Enough Items, Gendustry introduces the industrial-grade machinery required to bypass the traditional, time-consuming methods of Forestry.

Together, these mods allow players to:

• Visualize Mutations: View every possible bee, tree, and butterfly mutation, including secret ones.
• Force Mutations: Use Mutagen to guarantee successful crossbreeding.
• Genetic Engineering: Extract specific traits (like high production or nocturnal activity) and imprint them onto any organism.
• Industrial Automation: Replace hundreds of Alvearies with compact, powered Industrial Apiaries that run 24/7 in any biome.

NEI Addons acts as a bridge, adding specialized recipe handlers for several major mods. Its primary function is to demystify the breeding mechanics of Forestry and its addons.

Gendustry adds a suite of high-tier machines that require Redstone Flux (RF), Minecraft Joule (MJ), or EU to operate. These machines are the core of the "Master Bee Breeding" workflow.

Core Machines

Industrial Apiary

The flagship block of the mod. It is a 1x1x1 block that replaces the multi-block Alveary. It features 4 upgrade slots and can simulate any environment.

• Internal Buffer: 100,000 RF
• Base Consumption: ~20 RF/t (increases significantly with upgrades)

Mutagen Producer

Converts various materials into Mutagen, a liquid required for forced mutations.

• Energy Cost: 1,000,000 RF per operation.
• Yields:
  • Redstone Dust: 100 mB
  • Block of Redstone: 900 mB
  • Glowstone Dust: 200 mB
  • Glowstone Block: 800 mB
  • Uranium (IC2): 500 mB

Mutatron & Advanced Mutatron

Forces a mutation between a Princess and a Drone using Mutagen.

• Mutatron: Results in a random possible mutation. Has a small chance to produce "Genetic Waste."
• Advanced Mutatron: Allows the player to select the specific mutation result from a list of possibilities.

Genetic Sampler & Imprinter

• Sampler: Consumes a bee/tree/butterfly to extract a random genetic trait into a Gene Sample.
• Imprinter: Applies traits from a Genetic Template (a collection of samples) onto an organism, allowing you to create "perfect" bees with maximum production and ideal working conditions.

Upgrades are inserted into the Industrial Apiary to modify its behavior. Most upgrades stack, but they also increase energy consumption.

To achieve "Master" status in bee breeding, follow this industrial workflow:

1. Extraction: Place unwanted drones into the Genetic Sampler until you have samples for all desired traits (e.g., Production: Fastest, Lifespan: Shortest, Flowering: Maximum).
2. Template Construction: Combine a Blank Genetic Template with your collected Gene Samples in a crafting grid to create a master blueprint.
3. Imprinting: Place a Princess and your Template into the Genetic Imprinter. The Princess will now have every trait defined in the template.
4. Mass Production: Use the Protein Liquifier (raw meat) and DNA Extractor (unwanted bees) to fuel the Genetic Replicator. This machine can create infinite copies of your perfect bees using the master template.

Gendustry machines support "Covers," which are items applied to the sides of blocks to handle logistics without external pipes.

• Import Cover: Automatically pulls items from adjacent inventories into the machine.
• Eject Cover: Automatically pushes finished products into adjacent inventories or pipes (supports Mekanism, BuildCraft, etc.).
• Error Sensor Cover: Emits a Redstone signal if the machine encounters an error (e.g., out of Mutagen or no space for output).

Specialized Tools

• Industrial Grafter: A powered version of the Forestry grafter with 100% sapling drop rate. Can be charged with RF/EU.
• Scooporator MX200 Turbo: A high-speed, powered scoop for harvesting hives.
• Pollen Collection Kit: Used to collect pollen from trees for manual cross-pollination.

Gendustry is highly configurable for modpack authors. All recipes and machine stats can be tuned via the gendustry-recipes.cfg and gendustry-tuning.cfg files located in the config folder.

Key configurable options include:

• Mutagen Values: Change how much liquid different items produce.
• Power Requirements: Adjust the RF/t consumption of the Industrial Apiary and other machines.
