Tekkit Modpack (1.6.4) is the SMP version of the Technic Pack. Tekkit is a large group of Minecraft mods that can overall change the style of play of the game. You can build massive factories, rain lava on your opponents, program computers to do everything for you, and, after a bit, never have to leave your basalt-floored home again, because, with a push of a button or two, you can have everything from food to building supplies to pigs drop from pipes in your ceiling. The possibilities for machines and gadgets are limitless.

In Vanilla Minecraft, you can mine through blocks to find ores. With the Technic/Tekkit modpack, you can get better tools to mine yourself (drills, mining lasers, etc) or machines to mine for you. It gives you the means to transfer items from one location to the next via pipes or tubes so that you can automate the refining and/or production process. It allows you to do with your Minecraft world what we already do in the real world with technology…refine and automate repetitive tasks so that you’re free to do other things like build, explore, or destroy as you see fit.
