Overview#
MrCrayfish's Furniture Mod is a long-standing and highly detailed decoration mod that focuses on adding functional furniture to Minecraft. Unlike many decoration mods that provide purely aesthetic blocks, this mod features items that players can interact with, such as working ovens, functional storage containers, and electronic devices.
In the 1.19.4 and 1.20.1 versions, the mod has been streamlined to integrate better with modern Minecraft mechanics, utilizing a centralized crafting system via the Furniture Station. The mod covers every room of a house, including the kitchen, bedroom, living room, bathroom, and outdoor spaces.
Getting Started: The Furniture Station#
The Furniture Station is the most important block in the mod. In modern versions (1.19.4+), most furniture items are no longer crafted in a standard Crafting Table. Instead, players must use the Furniture Station to exchange raw materials for specific furniture pieces.
Crafting the Furniture Station
| Item | Ingredients | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Furniture Station | 4x Iron Ingot, 1x Crafting Table, 2x Stone | 1x Furniture Station |
How to Use
- Place the Furniture Station and right-click to open the UI.
- Browse the categories (Kitchen, Living Room, etc.) on the left.
- Select the desired item to see the required materials (usually Wood Planks, Iron Ingots, or Wool).
- If you have the materials in your inventory, click 'Craft' to receive the item.
Kitchen Furniture & Appliances#
The kitchen suite is one of the most functional aspects of the mod, providing unique ways to store and prepare food.
Functional Blocks
- Fridge: A two-block high storage unit. The top half stores items, while the bottom half can be used to freeze certain items (like turning Water Buckets into Ice).
- Oven: Acts as a specialized furnace. It has a unique UI that allows for cooking multiple food items simultaneously.
- Kitchen Cabinet: A standard storage block that can be dyed different colors to match your kitchen's theme.
- Sink: When filled with a Water Bucket, it provides an infinite source of water for glass bottles and buckets.
- Toaster: Place bread inside to create Toast, which provides higher saturation than regular bread.
- Blender: Used to create smoothies. Players can combine various fruits and vegetables to receive beneficial potion effects.
- Microwave: A faster alternative to the Oven for cooking potatoes and beef.
Kitchen Item Stats
| Block | Storage Slots | Special Function |
|---|---|---|
| Fridge | 15 (Top) | Freezes items in bottom slot |
| Oven | 9 | Cooks food only |
| Cabinet | 15 | Decorative storage |
| Microwave | 1 | Instant cooking for specific items |
Living Room & Electronics#
Living room furniture focuses on comfort and entertainment. Most seating in this mod is fully functional.
Seating and Tables
- Sofa: Available in all 16 Minecraft colors. Players can sit on them by right-clicking. Multiple sofas placed side-by-side will connect to form a larger couch.
- Coffee Table: A low-profile table that also acts as a small storage container.
- TV: A functional electronic block. It requires a Remote Control to operate. Players can switch between different channels which display unique pixel-art animations.
Electronic Devices
- Computer: The computer features a functional 'MineBay' application. Players can use Emeralds to purchase rare items that are otherwise difficult to find in the world.
- Printer: Requires Ink Cartridges. It can be used to duplicate Enchanted Books at the cost of experience and ink.
- Stereo: Plays music discs and can be toggled on or off to provide ambient sound in a room.
Bedroom & Bathroom#
These sections provide privacy and utility for the player's base.
Bedroom Items
- Bedside Cabinet: A small one-block storage unit often placed next to beds.
- Desk: A surface for placing computers or lamps. Desks connect together like sofas.
- Wardrobe: A tall storage unit specifically designed for storing armor and clothing items.
Bathroom Items
- Toilet: Features a flushing sound effect when right-clicked. Players can sit on it.
- Basin: Similar to the sink, it holds water for aesthetic or functional use.
- Shower: When activated with a Redstone signal or a tap, it produces water particles.
- Bathtub: A large vessel that can be filled with water, allowing the player to submerge.
Outdoor & Garden#
The mod extends outside the home with several garden-themed blocks.
- Mailbox: The core of the mod's mail system. Players can send items, tools, and letters to other players on a server by placing them in an Envelope or Package and putting them in the recipient's mailbox.
- Grill: A functional outdoor cooker. It requires Coal as fuel and a Spatula to flip the food. It is the most efficient way to cook large amounts of meat.
- Bird Bath: A decorative piece that occasionally attracts bird particles.
- Picket Fence: A white decorative fence that connects like standard Minecraft fences.
- Hedge: A leafy alternative to fences, crafted using leaves and logs.
The Mail System#
The Mail System allows for player-to-player interaction through physical items.
- Craft an Envelope or Package: Envelopes hold a single item/letter, while Packages hold multiple.
- Address the Item: Use the Mailbox interface to select a player's name from the server list.
- Delivery: Once sent, the item will appear in the recipient's Mailbox. The Mailbox will show a raised flag to indicate that mail has arrived.
Tools and Utility Items#
Several handheld items are required to interact with specific furniture pieces.
| Item | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Spatula | Used to flip meat on the Grill to prevent burning. |
| Remote Control | Used to turn the TV on/off and change channels. |
| Hammer | Used to rotate furniture pieces or repair damaged electronics. |
| Ink Cartridge | Required fuel for the Printer. |
| Package | Used to bundle multiple items for the Mailbox system. |
Mechanics and Interaction#
Sitting
Most chairs, sofas, and toilets allow the player to sit. Right-click the block with an empty hand to sit; press the 'Sneak' key (default Shift) to dismount.
Dyeing Furniture
Many items, such as Sofas, Bedside Cabinets, and Lamps, can be dyed. To change the color, you can either craft the specific color in the Furniture Station or right-click the placed block with a piece of Dye.
Powering Electronics
In modern versions, electronics do not require external power (like Forge Energy), but some may require a Redstone signal to stay active or can be toggled manually with a right-click.
Configuration#
The mod can be customized via the cfm-common.toml file located in the /config folder of your Minecraft directory.
Key Config Options:
- Recipe Settings: Enable or disable specific furniture pieces if they conflict with other mods.
- MineBay Prices: Adjust the emerald cost of items found in the Computer's shopping app.
- Display Settings: Toggle whether the TV should play sounds or if certain particle effects (like the Grill smoke) should be visible.
