Has any game ever revolutionized the gaming industry quite like the Souls franchise? Games have always presented challenges, and overcoming them is part of the fun. However, prior to the Souls games, it was considered a negative aspect for a game to be extremely difficult, to the point of taking thousands of lives to complete a single run-through. But when you combine an epic, grimdark fantasy world with a thousand unique enemies and demanding-but-rewarding gameplay, you get the addictive From Software masterpieces. Whether you’re a die-hard Souls fan or simply enjoy dark knight skins, this list of Dark Souls skins has something for every type of Minecraft player.

1. Oscar of Astora

At the start of the original Dark Souls game, Oscar, Knight of Astora, hands you a corpse and bestows upon you an Estus Flask before his demise. The Souls franchise is known for its striking medieval aesthetic, which is immediately apparent from the outset and continues throughout the game. It’s remarkable that a mere introductory character, like Oscar, could have such a memorable and impressive suit of armor, as demonstrated in this stunning creation by Leostereo.

2. Kirk, Knight of Thorns

You must have experienced some level of frustration when trying to get back to a location or a campfire in Dark Souls, only to find an invader like Kirk blocking your way. However, despite being a nuisance, there’s no denying that invaders like the Knight of Thorns have an undeniably cool look. Even those who aren’t fans of the Souls games can appreciate the all-black and edgy appearance of this knight skin, which is impressive enough to be worth writing home about.

3. Soul of Cinder

The Soul of Cinder battle, fueled by magma, perfectly embodies the captivating essence of the Souls games. It’s an incredibly challenging fight, but also one of immense scale and scope. Each roll and dodge feels like a grand feat, and every successful hit is a hard-earned victory.

4. Demon’s Souls Knight

The recent remake of Demon’s Souls, the original Souls game from 2009, has garnered much excitement and anticipation as From Software continues to produce games. This stunning skin created by mooyels is a nod to where the Souls craze all began. As players start the game, they don this impressive fluted knight armor, a mere glimpse of the vast array of medieval armory to come.

5. Deprived

As is common in many stat-heavy RPGs, Dark Souls games require you to select a preset at the start to establish a baseline for your character’s abilities that you can then expand upon. For those who enjoy practical jokes or simply relish in agony, the Deprived skin may strike a familiar chord.

6. Looking Glass Knight

The reason this Dark Souls 2 boss is on the list isn’t just because of the mirror mechanic, but also because of its impressive design. The creator of this skin, Norman You Know, shares the same sentiment as the Looking Glass Knight’s multi-faced appearance is more captivating than other bosses or NPCs. This pale knight skin is a faithful representation of the boss and stands out among the rest.

7. Dark Sun Gwyndolin

I was unaware that Dark Sun Gwyndolin was a boss in the original Dark Souls, considering it is an optional battle. However, my astonishment peaked when I came across this exquisite skin by the talented creator canday, featuring a hooded and masked figure. Sadly, my gaming abilities are not sufficient to take on what I assume to be an insurmountable challenge in the original game.

8. Fire Keeper

The Fire Keeper skin is reminiscent of Dark Sun’s aesthetics and should be recognizable to any Souls player. This skin depicts the Fire Keeper who tends to the campfire, the only place for respite in the game, and who gives the player character the name “Ashen One.” Though I may not fully grasp the intricate lore of the game, it’s clear to me that the Fire Keeper skin looks just as cool as any of the armored ones.

9. Channeler

Although the Channeler is not a boss or companion NPC, I have a soft spot for it because of one reason: its amazing appearance. The skin created by 7iqdoq perfectly captures the Channeler’s crazy trident-wielding visage, with its royal blue armor and many-eyed appearance. Frankly, I don’t even know how this suit of armor works, but its over-the-top grandiosity represents what makes the Dark Souls franchise so cool.

10. Solaire of Astora

Now we have the original Sunbro, Solaire of Astora, the knight who brought forth the culture around the Dark Souls games. While his dialogue may be convoluted, his design is iconic, and it’s no surprise that players praise the sun along with him.

11. Patches

The character Patches is undoubtedly one of the most comical-looking figures in the Souls games. Unlike other intimidating NPCs or bosses, Patches is a portly, bald man dressed in an onion-like outfit. His design is both ridiculous and endearing, and this skin by an unknown creator perfectly captures his whimsical essence. I hope you appreciate this skin as much as I do.

12. Gwyn, Lord of Cinder

Gwyn, Lord of Cinder is one of the most iconic bosses in the first Dark Souls game, and he makes for a fantastic final fight. His appearance has become the benchmark for all final bosses in the Souls series. And this skin does an excellent job of meeting that high standard. It’s hard to believe that this was thepuppet555’s first Minecraft skin because the level of detail, scope, and coloring is very impressive.

13. Leonhard (DS3)

Leonhard, the somewhat clumsy companion, holds a special place in my heart. Despite preferring to venture on my own during most playthroughs, there’s something inherently likable about his round figure. The same goes for this skin. Whether it’s the feathered cap or the popped collar, I can’t pinpoint what draws me back to Leonhard time and time again. Nonetheless, I’m here for it, and I’m bringing you along for the ride.

14. Maiden in Black

The character design of the Maiden in Black, an original Demon’s Souls boss, set the stage for a generation of boss designs. While most bosses in the Souls games have an extravagant and detailed appearance, the Maiden in Black stands out with her understated and subdued design. This Minecraft skin by creator makipom perfectly captures the subtle yet witchy nature of the character, making it a great addition to any player’s collection.

15. Sekiro

Although it’s not a skin from a Dark Souls or Demon’s Souls game, we can’t talk about the Souls franchise without mentioning Sekiro. Released in 2019, the game broke boundaries and genres that From Software was previously used to, and rightfully received acclaim. Why should the awesome aesthetics of medieval combat be limited to just knights?
