Overview#
Tinkers' Addons is a dedicated expansion for Tinkers' Construct (specifically for versions 1.10.2, 1.11.2, and 1.12.2) created by oitsjustjose. The mod's primary purpose is to restore beloved features that were removed during the transition from Tinkers' Construct 1.0 to 2.0.
Specifically, it brings back the Auto-Repair mechanic (rebranded as Amelioration) and the ability to add Bonus Modifier Slots through high-tier crafting recipes. Unlike the original mod where these were applied directly in the Tool Station, Tinkers' Addons introduces physical items—Kits and Toolkits—that must be crafted first and then applied to your tools, providing a more balanced and linear progression system.

Modifiers#
The mod adds two primary types of modifiers to the Tinkers' Construct ecosystem. These modifiers follow the standard rules of the mod but offer unique utility and power-scaling.
Amelioration (Auto-Repair)
Amelioration is the modern successor to the old 'Moss' modifier. It allows tools to slowly regenerate durability over time without the need for manual repair or experience (Mending).
- Levels: Can be leveled up to Level V.
- Stacking: Each level increases the frequency of the repair ticks.
- Application: Applied using an Amelioration Kit or Amelioration Tome.
- Behavior: The tool repairs 1 durability point at semi-random intervals. It will continue to repair even if the tool is 'Broken,' eventually restoring it to a functional state.
Bonus Modifiers
These modifiers grant the tool additional modifier slots, allowing for more upgrades (like Haste, Luck, or Sharpness) than the base materials would normally allow.
- Tiers: There are four distinct tiers of Bonus Modifiers.
- Limit: Each tier can only be applied once per tool, for a maximum of 4 extra slots.
- Flexibility: Tiers can be applied in any order (e.g., you can apply Tier III before Tier I), though the crafting difficulty naturally encourages linear progression.
Items#
Tinkers' Addons introduces several items used to apply the new modifiers. These items do not have a function on their own but are essential for the Tool Station/Forge.
| Item | Purpose | Max Stack |
|---|---|---|
| Amelioration Kit | Used to apply the Amelioration (Auto-Repair) modifier. | 16 |
| Amelioration Tome | A higher-tier version of the kit, often used for leveling up the modifier. | 1 |
| Upgrade Toolkit (Tier I) | Adds 1 additional modifier slot to a tool. | 1 |
| Upgrade Toolkit (Tier II) | Adds 1 additional modifier slot to a tool. | 1 |
| Upgrade Toolkit (Tier III) | Adds 1 additional modifier slot to a tool. | 1 |
| Upgrade Toolkit (Tier IV) | Adds 1 additional modifier slot to a tool. | 1 |
Mechanics#
The mod features deep mechanical integration with the environment and existing Tinkers' Construct systems.
Environmental Repair Bonuses
The speed of the Amelioration modifier is not static; it fluctuates based on where the player is and the current weather conditions:
- Sunlight: When the tool is exposed to direct sunlight, the Amelioration level is effectively treated as Level + 2. This significantly increases the repair frequency.
- The Nether: The intense heat of the Nether dimension causes tools to repair faster than in the Overworld.
- Rain: Moisture from rain provides a slight boost to the repair speed, similar to the old 'Aquadynamic' trait logic.
- Usage Restriction: Tools will not repair while they are actively being used (e.g., while holding down left-click to mine or attack).
Modifier Stacking
Unlike standard Tinkers' Construct modifiers that consume a slot, the Upgrade Toolkits provide a slot. This means that applying a Toolkit will result in the tool having the same number of available slots as before, but with the 'Bonus Modifier' trait recorded on the tool's NBT data to prevent duplicate applications of the same tier.
Recipes#
All items in Tinkers' Addons are crafted using a standard Crafting Table. Once crafted, the resulting item is placed in a Tool Station or Tool Forge alongside the tool you wish to modify.
Amelioration Kit
The Amelioration Kit requires a Mending-enchanted item to 'infuse' the moss with life.

Configuration#
Tinkers' Addons includes a configuration file (tinkersaddons.cfg) that allows server owners and modpack creators to balance the mod's features.
Key configurable options include:
- Enable/Disable Tiers: Individual Upgrade Toolkit tiers can be disabled if they are deemed too powerful.
- Repair Speed Multipliers: The base speed of Amelioration and the environmental bonuses (Sunlight, Nether, Rain) can be adjusted.
- Recipe Tweaks: While the default recipes are hardcoded to use specific vanilla items, they can be overridden or modified via CraftTweaker integration if installed.
