Binnie's Mods is a collection of four major modules—Extra Bees, Extra Trees, Botany, and Genetics—designed to expand the biological and industrial capabilities of the Forestry mod. It allows players to move beyond simple cross-breeding into the realm of genetic manipulation, enabling the creation of custom species with optimized traits. The mod suite adds hundreds of new items, machines, and biological entities, ranging from resource-producing bees to decorative wooden tiles and breedable flowers.

The Genetics module is the core of Binnie's Mods, providing the tools to isolate, sequence, and implant specific genes into bees, trees, flowers, and butterflies. This system bypasses the randomness of traditional breeding.

The Genetic Engineering Workflow

To modify a species, players must follow a multi-step industrial process involving several specialized machines:

1. Genepool: Consumes unwanted bees or saplings and Ethanol to produce Liquid DNA.
2. Isolator: Uses Enzymes and Serum Vials to extract a random gene from a specimen, creating an Unsequenced Serum.
3. Sequencer: Uses Fluorescent Dye to identify the gene within the serum, turning it into a Sequenced Serum.
4. Polymeriser: Uses Polymerizing Bacteria and Gold Nuggets to increase the "charge" or strength of the serum.
5. Inoculator: The final step where the Charged Serum is implanted into a target (larva, sapling, or pollen) using a Bacteria Vector.

Essential Genetic Machines

Extra Bees adds 107 new bee species and 105 mutations to Forestry. These bees are categorized into branches, many of which produce rare resources like metal dusts, gems, and dyes.

Major Bee Branches

• Metallic Branch: Includes Iron, Gold, Copper, and Tin bees which produce metal-bearing combs.
• Gem Branch: Includes Diamond, Emerald, Lapis, and Redstone bees.

• Indexer: A massive storage solution capable of holding thousands of bees, searchable by species and traits.
• Apiarist Databank: A digital encyclopedia that tracks all discovered species and mutations.

Alveary Upgrades

Binnie's Mods adds several functional blocks to the Alveary structure:

• Alveary Heater: Increases the internal temperature.
• Alveary Fan: Decreases the internal temperature.
• Alveary Hygroregulator: Adjusts humidity levels using water or sand.
• Alveary Stabiliser: Prevents natural mutations to keep a strain pure.

Extra Trees introduces 96 new tree species and a comprehensive woodworking system. It adds 35 new types of wooden planks and 39 new fruits and nuts.

Tree Categories

• Fruit Trees: Banana, Cherry, Apple, Peach, Citrus, and Nut trees (Walnut, Chestnut).

Botany adds a flower breeding system to Forestry. It features 46 species and a genetic color system allowing for over 80 different petal shades.

Gardening Mechanics

Flowers in Botany require specific soil conditions to thrive and mutate. Players must manage:

• pH Levels: Soil can be Acidic, Neutral, or Alkaline. This is adjusted using lime or peat.
• Moisture: Soil ranges from Dry to Damp, controlled by proximity to water or use of sand.
• Nutrients: Increased by adding Fertilizer or Compost to the soil.

Tools and Blocks

• Trowel: Used to pick up and move flowers without destroying them.
• Flowerbed: The primary block for growing Botany flowers.
• Ceramic Tiles: Decorative blocks created from clay and flower pigments, which can be patterned in the Tile Worker.

The advanced machines in Binnie's Mods require various biological fluids and consumable supplies produced in the Incubator.

Essential Fluids

• Liquid Growth Medium: Created from Sugar, Bone Meal, and Water. The base for all bacterial cultures.
• Bacteria: Cultured from Growth Medium and Wheat.
• Enzymes: Produced from Bacteria and Sugar; required for the Isolator.
• Polymerizing Bacteria: Produced from Bacteria and Bone Meal; required for the Polymeriser.
• Bacteria Vector: Produced from Bacteria and Blaze Powder; required for the Inoculator.

• Serum Vial: Glass containers used to hold genetic sequences.

Binnie's Mods includes a unique storage system called Compartments. These are modular chests that can be specialized for different item types.
