Overview#

Morph is a shapeshifting mod that lets you transform into almost any living creature in the game. Originally created by iChun and continued as ReMorphed by ToCraft, it turns every mob into a wearable disguise.

The loop is simple and satisfying: defeat a creature, acquire its form, then switch into that shape whenever you like from a visual morph menu. A morph is not just a costume - you take on the mob's exact look, size, and model, and you also inherit its natural traits, so the world genuinely changes depending on what you become.

Morph is built for survival play, hide-and-seek style minigames, sneaking, exploration, and role-play. Your unlocked shapes are saved to your collection so your roster of disguises only grows the more you play.

How Morphing Works#

There are three core ideas to remember:

  1. Acquire - when you kill a living mob, its form is added to your personal morph collection.
  2. Select - open the morph menu, browse every form you have unlocked, and choose one.
  3. Transform - confirm a shape and your character instantly becomes that creature, model and all. You can return to your normal player form at any time.

Because acquiring a form requires defeating the mob, building a large collection is itself a gameplay goal - every new creature you beat is a new disguise to add to the list.

Getting Started#

  1. Install the required libraries alongside Morph: Wood Walkers (the shapeshifting engine), Crafted Core (shared library), and optionally SkinShifter. Morph will not function correctly without its required dependencies.
  2. Find and defeat a mob you would like to become - a pig, a chicken, a spider, anything living.
  3. Open the morph menu with the keybind (default B) to see the form you just unlocked.
  4. Select the form to transform into it instantly.
  5. Press the keybind again to browse and swap to other shapes, or return to your own player form.

That is the whole flow - defeat, select, transform.

The Morph Menu#

The morph menu is your collection screen and your transformation tool in one.

  • Open it with the keybind (default B).
  • Scroll through every form you have unlocked, shown as a live preview of each creature.
  • Pick a shape to morph into it immediately.
  • Return to player by selecting your own form.

The menu is the heart of the mod: it is where you review the disguises you have collected and switch between them on the fly. Keep collecting new mobs and the menu fills out with more options over time.

Keybinds#

Morph is driven mainly by a single keybind:

  • Open Morph Menu - default B. Opens the selection screen to browse and choose a form.
  • Navigation - use the menu controls to scroll between unlocked shapes and confirm a selection.

All keybinds can be changed in the standard Controls / Key Binds settings if the default conflicts with another mod. If pressing B does nothing, check that the bind has not been cleared or overridden.

Abilities & Traits#

Morphing is more than a visual change - you gain the natural characteristics of the creature you become.

  • Flight - take the shape of a flying mob and you can fly.
  • Water breathing - aquatic forms let you breathe and move freely underwater.
  • Size - small creatures let you fit through gaps a player cannot; large creatures fill more space.
  • Behavioural camouflage - while wearing a mob's shape, others of that kind may treat you as one of their own.

This is what makes Morph a real gameplay tool rather than a cosmetic: the right disguise can solve a traversal problem, help you survive, or let you blend into a crowd of mobs.

Collecting Morphs#

Your morph collection grows by defeating creatures.

  • Each defeated mob adds its form to your roster.
  • Variants count - many creatures have distinct looks worth collecting for variety.
  • Your collection is saved, so the shapes you unlock stay with you between sessions.

Treat collecting as a long-term project: the broader your roster, the more options you have for traversal, disguise, and role-play. Hunting down a rare or hard-to-reach mob just to add it to your menu is a goal in itself.

Survival & Combat#

Disguises change how the world reacts to you.

  • Blend in by wearing the shape of nearby mobs so hostiles are less likely to single you out.
  • Escape by morphing into a fast, flying, or aquatic creature to leave danger behind.
  • Reposition with a small shape to slip through tight spaces during a fight.

Use your collection tactically: the best shape for a situation is often not the strongest-looking mob but the one whose traits fit the problem in front of you.

Multiplayer & Minigames#

Morph shines on servers and in custom games.

  • Hide-and-seek - hiders morph into blocks-of-mobs and freeze in plain sight while seekers hunt them down.
  • Role-play - become the creature your character is meant to be.
  • Prop-style rounds - any game built around disguises benefits from a deep morph roster.

Install Morph and its dependencies on both the server and every client so all players see each other's transformations correctly.

Tips#

  • Collect early and often. Defeating common mobs near spawn quickly builds a useful starter roster.
  • Match the shape to the task. Need to cross water? Morph aquatic. Need height? Morph a flier.
  • Use small mobs for tight spots and large mobs when you want presence.
  • Keep your own form one click away - return to player whenever you need full control.
  • Experiment - part of the fun is discovering how each creature's traits feel to play.

Configuration#

Morph and its underlying engine expose options through their config and the standard mods list.

  • Keybinds are set in the vanilla Controls menu.
  • Engine behaviour is governed by the shapeshifting library (Wood Walkers) and shared config library (Crafted Core).

Most players can run everything at default. If you are assembling a large modpack or a minigame server, review the config options to tune how morphs are acquired and used to match your intended experience.

Troubleshooting & FAQ#

The game crashes on launch or Morph fails to load. Make sure the required libraries are installed and version-matched: Wood Walkers and Crafted Core (SkinShifter is optional).

Pressing B does nothing. Check that the Open Morph Menu keybind is still set in Controls and is not overridden by another mod.

I defeated a mob but did not get its form. Confirm it was a living creature and that the morph engine library (Wood Walkers) is installed correctly.

Other players cannot see my transformation. Morph and its dependencies must be installed on both the server and every client.

Is Morph multiplayer safe? Yes - it is designed for servers and minigames. Install it on both sides.

Does morphing make me invincible? No. You gain a creature's natural traits and look, but you are still vulnerable - use disguises tactically rather than as a shield.
